how quick was it?

Doug Sweetman - September 14th, 2006 at 10:55 AM

It looks the shiat...... very nice.

Can imagine that tearing up the Aussie drag scene....

Best was a 9.84@134.
Looks heavy though compared to other blown bugs around the world.
this puts him in number 3 spot for blown volksies.
#1 Mike Kristen 9.43@145 at 1611lbs
#2 Dave Butler 9.76@147 at 1870lbs
#3 Kendrick 9.84@134 un known weight, but he might chime in with some details on the car.

Looks pretty mean! Not sure about the ball pein hammer as tool of choice for working on that deluxe piece of equipment!

If ya squint really tight and forget about the blown engine, the wheelie bars, the wing amd the wheels, it almost looks like my car.....

kroozzn63 - September 14th, 2006 at 11:06 PM

ah the good old hammer , a precision tool

dangerous - September 15th, 2006 at 07:20 AM

I think they are using that hammer to un-pack the crate that took the engine to Puerto Rico.

66deluxe - September 15th, 2006 at 07:20 AM

I'm lightning with a hammer, i never hit the same place twice, ha ha.

So do you know if that is based on a VW block Dave ?

Any thoughts why serious VW drag cars seem to do better with turbos than blowers ?

dangerous - September 15th, 2006 at 01:47 PM

The case appears to be an ARPM aluminium one, but may be autocraft.
I am hoping Kendrick will be on here soon, but he has not received his email to get on.

Turbos will always make more power for the same boost pressure, and there are just more of them out there to solve the tune up issues.
I think that given Mike Kristen's performance with only 2110cc, it shows that they can run fast.
My combo had much more potential, but its tune was never even close to being right .
The future will show the potential of those blowers that I had...but not with me.

To give you some Idea of the power, when I did licencing in the tube chassis car,
I ran two passes in the 9s that I used only half throttle for most of the run
to keep it under control.

As always, logical, sensible and easily understood responses Dave, Thanks.

That blown car must have been a real beast. Is there any video footage of it around ?

Personally I think Mike has achieved an awful lot - especially given it uses a vw crank too !
