Hi,
I had a great day at the 1/8 mile drags yesterday.
Traction was not very good, as it was held on a runway.
I was the quickest car of the day (by almost a second) and I beat some really good cars, one of witch is the "Beat the Heat" Holden (making 500
flywheel Hp) that is sponsored by the WA polise. He is also a regular at the Perth Motorplex.
I also beat last years winner, a Subaru WRX, by almost 2 seconds.
I was driving my street bug with my 149Hp at the wheels N/A Type 4 motor.
My best time was 8.63 seconds, that was not bad for the traction. On a better surface I could easily lift the front wheels.( I will need to make some
wheely bars).
I will post a link to a video clip as soon as a get it on the web.

great stuff. love to see some pics of the car.
What speed Hermann ?
Yeah, show us some pics!
Wahoo Hermann, great stuff
I've seen the beat the heat commodore at the motorplex before, its actually a pretty quick car - which shows how quick your bug must be.
I've a feeling the commodore runs against S/S cars, so its about flat 12's or high 11's ? could be very wrong here, dont really know.
What are your plans for the turbo motor you have hiding ?
Cool good stuff Hermann.
good to see you getting out there annoying people with a VW !
Have you guys got a 1/4 track over there?
yeah we have a quarter track.
the motorplex!!

and i thought that beat the heat (police) car ran against the normal street cars aswell just as a gimmick thing to allow people to race the cops sort
of.
either way...good work hermann.
Hi
They did not have a speed trap, just timing.
The wife has the pics and videos on her camera, will get it from her (Wednesday evening).
The driver of the "beat the heat" car said that he runs 11 s and low 12s and he had a s/s number on his windows.
It is however a streetcar with full interior, he just had too much power for the strip.
He was gaining on me and would beet me in the 1/4 mile.
The turbo motor will go into my ragtop, with a built swing axle box and (if money is there) later a bus auto with IRS.
I fitted some big 26x10-14 M T tyres on the back and it realy worked for me on the bad track.
Built some 3" wider rear steel fenders for the wide wheels last week.
All the school kids loved the car and just wants to know if all bugs is that quick, as I have the only bug in town.
Will try and post it on Youtube
