I know this is the wrong section of the forum for this, but i figure the drag guys probably aren't reading the wanted forums that much.
I'm after an autocraft case to suit a flanged crank with all type 4 mains for my new engine. If anyone knows of one thats hidden somewhere in
australia thats new or has low usage please let me know.

Rod Penrose'd be the man to talk to. He had a few competition cases for sale in the parts section a while back. I just had a look, but I couldn't find the ad. Maybe try and call him or something.
why not use a WBX case
Already talked to Rod. He has the crank and flywheel that I want, but the autocraft case he has has a gaping hole where there shouldn't be one from
the last blowup.
I'm really going all out with my new engine combination. Im aiming for some very high HP figures but want reliability too so away with the VW parts
and enter the pauter, autocraft and scat parts.
I've emailed autocraft. I might end up buying a new case direct, well see...

Yeah saw that oneon samba. There are two others as well, but one is an 8 dowell crank version and the other is an ARPM case with a roller camshaft,
which is a little overkill.
I want to keep a 94mm bore. Going to a 96mm bore opens up a can or worms of other problems. Having to 6 stud, combustion chambers being too small to
get the CR low enough etc. I'm aiming for 7.8:1 cr on a 2387.
I'm not sure what my new heads are as i havnt cc'd them yet, but they will probably be around 58-60cc.
Im dredging though the samba nearly every day lately trying to find the parts i'm after. Thats how I got a contact address for someone at autocraft
too (though i am yet to hear back from him), as they are selling their wet and dry sump pumps through the classifids section.

The autocraft parts on the samba are from CA, I am pretty sure thats where the parts are made. I have spoken to Mike at Autocraft in Massachusetts a
few times, he is the one to contact, usually pretty quick replies too.
He is 25 mins from me, I could bring one home in my bags in march if you decide to go that way that soon! Im heading home to OZ for 3 weeks...

I want to make sure what I order is complete (bolts, studs, seals, gaskets, bearings etc), and not the start of another ever ending spending exercise
in wallet abuse or frustration in not being able to source the pieces I need.

As was mentioned before, is it not possible to make obscene amounts of power out of the WBX case. How far have you looked into it?
Marcothesteamengine on the STF has an AWESOME setup using a WBX case.
If you want a wet sump, the Scat case or Pauter are the go.
The Autocraft case can be converted to wet sump,
but it gets pretty expensive with all the add ons.
The Pauter case may be more viable dollars wise in this case.
The Scat wet sump case will be the most affordable.
All are very strong, as is the Wasser Boxer case.
The Wasser case requires a lot of machining to get right, including :
Lifterbores resleeved,
Water Jackets removal,
Stud pattern correction and case savers,
Line boring to suit your crank,
Seal hole for flanged crank,
Modifying for extra sump volume or dry sump,
And possibly moving the oil filter location,
Also shorter head studs and barrel bases.
I may have forgotten some things it was over 10 years ago that I did mine.

Yeah i've seen Marco's engine and it is very impressive. However I am aiming a little higher that that . Most of the engine particulars are
finalised, all that remains is the case. I was considering the SCAT wet sump case as Dave suggests here as well, but have had some difficulty in
locating one of these as well. I hadn't considered pauter, and will investigate that now.
The new engine will be a 2387cc twin turbo with water to air intercooling.
This is the parts list so far:
CB Comp Eliminators, 48x40 CNC ported, with mirror polished exhaust ports and rough buffed intakes.
Pauter 1.3:1 billet roller rockers
wiseco 94's and cut to length barrels (Rod Penrose parts)
5.6" rods, chevy big ends
Web 86b ground on 112 lobe centers
ACN Scat SLR resurfaced lube-a-lifters
Revmaster aviation 38mm oil pump with avaid external oil pressure regulator
ex nascar C & R Radiators Water to Oil heat exchanger
twin garrrett GT2554R 260HP turbo's, 0.65 turbine 0.8 compressor.
2JZGTE Supra sequential twin turbo control valve system.
Wolf Version 5 ECU, MSD 4 coil direct fire ignition with MSD DIS4 CDI ignition
Turbosmart 38mm wastegate, used as a pre-spool valve for the second turbo
4 x 660cc primary injectors
4 x 440cc secondary injectors (possible running methanol in the second stage, still undecided)
Twin Trust 300ZX Air-air intercoolers, converted to water to air, radiator mounted in front of the front beam.
Twin HKS front mounted oil coolers used for the oil/water heat exchanger.
I also have a CB 84mm 8 dowelled crank with balanced scat flywheel and CB alloy case with 10mm head studs, but need to improve the crank system to
flanged to support the power I want if it is to be reliable. To that end it makes sense going all out with the case as well.
Realistic power figures will be around 250rwhp in a low boost sequential mode of operation. Max boost for these turbo's on this size engine which is
being setup to rev to a max of around 8000 rpm is around 22-24lb. I'd like to see 400-430rwhp at that level. It will never be driven on the street
with that tune, nor raced for that matter. The nearest track is a 900k round trip away. The most I can hope for is to attend a 8th mile event once a
year thats 100k away. I'm building this for the fun of it.

Run's 10's in his WBX street car. Aparently getting close to the 9's. 2.2lt i think, running over 35lb boost now. Very quick car.
Reliability wise tho I begin to wonder, though to be honest i don't have a clue about water cooled vw's.
I did research the WBX for about 5 minutes, but it looks too hard to do the conversion when there are better off the shelf blocks.
If you want to race in Townsville you can leave the car here....
