Ive been thinking I might do a draw through set up on my 2276. I have a 48 DHLA, and dont want to spend moonbeams on a turbo. There are lots of stock
turbos over here off Subarus and evos, would these be a reasonable starting point ?
I also have a pair of 48 DRLAs that are surplus, do they need sealing to work in a blow through set up ?
Looking for mild boost 8 ish PSI ? as a starting point.

my advice after building my turbo is research.
try shoptalk forums forced induction forum. If it's been done these guys have done it. Not saying that anybody here couldn't help but look at the
size of the population over there.
I looked at the suby turbo's but from memory they had oddball flanges and mounts. They're for sale on ebay all the time.
Also if your going draw through pick something with a carbon seal or something that can be modified. Most late model stuff is blow through. I had my
T2 fitted with one.

Thanks for that. I saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oKqSLvbj0M
and it gave me some ideas.
For your mild setup M8, any turbo off a 2ltr will be just fine.
You can get flange kits off Ebay for next to bugger all for just about any type of flange if you dont want to flame cut your own with your trusty blue
toungued spanner.
They tend to be very pricey if you get them cut out on and individual basis.
One of those DHLA carbs will be plenty for a mild pull thru and yep, you can modify the carbs easily if you want to blow thru them later on.
Id strongly reccommend a center float (HIF) 45mm SU for a pull-thru for ease and simplicity. You will only ever need 2 needles and 2 springs to make
it work well.
Altho, id almost reccommend you blow thru the DHLA's anyway to begin with as the results will be as close to efi as you can get.
A pull-thru system works ok, particularly at higher revs and throttle openings and is shit easy to setup in the first place but the difference is
chalk and cheese to a blow-thru. This is particularly so when you deal with cold running, Ie: fuel condensation in the manifolds, freezing under the
carb butterfly and so-on.
However, there is a fair bit more frigging around to a blow thru setup.
Good luck.

Tell us your engine specs, internals, cam, and what it can rev too. Some engines that cant rev are better suited to a small turbo like a T2. Though
if you can afford it, and want to rev it a bit (7000) a GT28RS-350 with an 0.86 AR would be very decent on a 2275. Responsive and have good top end as
well. All out power you'd go got a GT2871 or GT30 if your crazy and can rev to 7500.
If the BB turbo's are out of your price range you can look at second hand subaru turbo's, or a small T3 plain bearing turbo. Draw through means your
going to need to do your research on what turbo's have compressor seals as well. Good luck with that because thatn info is never well published.
Engine specs are, 2275, 044 heads 44 x 37.5, K8 cam (CB clone of it), 9.5:1 (currently). NA it has run a 13.9 1/4. I have twisted 7500 out of it, but
in reality its all over by 6500 in 3rd and 4th.
Im running a .045" deck at the moment, so have some room to move in that department. Heads are 55cc's.
Since I last posted, I have decided to use the DRLAs I have in a blow through set up. I have the shaft seals, need the turbo hats, mod rings, e tubes,
and the ducting etc... I was looking at a VF28 hybrid (ill find the link).
I will check the bottom end out before I make it happen and am open to a cam change.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=95677794 is the turbo i was looking at.
Altho Im not much of a fan of creating funky hybrids, that turbo would be almost lag free on your engine but the T25 rear housing would become quite a
poptato in the tailpipe once you wind it up.
Now, if hed started with a T28.................
