I'm assuming the shorter axles are stronger ?
Less overall weight ?

Craig ! for me it's Tyre under car more but I have raced the last 16years with long axles on my yellow car (sway-a-way )
I have never broken a axle but wheels choice is all ways difficult for volkswagens (off sets)and then most times you have to put on fat mudguards on.
Most drag or tuff street bugs don't need very wide slicks
on back (6 or 7 inch fine )
I have never had a handling problem anywhere but I think it's more the width of front end to do with that! ( equal back and front wheel centre's
)

You can tune the rear end wheel spin by adjusting the height. More or less tyre.
Helps with not wasting energy wheel standing or breaking trannys. Or you can tune more tyre into it if you go to a crappy track. Plus NO cv problems.
thanks for that............................I was wanting to find out why the narrower swingaxle (1200) apposed to the wider (1500).
Just want to make sure I'm building the right gearbox combo.
