Hi all,
Has anyone ever used these before?
Im planning my IRS converison and want to be able to go coil-over as well so i can mess with different shock rates for street/drag applications.
Cheers,
Ian
yeah talk to Mike at Vinatge 02-9789-1777
i wouldn't trust my life with a small hymy like that.
what size bolt is it that hold's it on.
a better alternative
Hi 555bug
Do the front parts have a machined load boss so wheel load is transferred to torsion housing and not the bolts?
Steve
double shear on the bolt, nice, but the rod end size still looks alittle small.
i would use 3/4 or bigger, only because as the joint gets old they get play, when they get play they bang pretty hard.
a bigger surface area will take longer to wear.and with the power that will be used this is a must.
i have used 3/4 hyms in mine.after killing the car as much as possible over the last month i have wear marks in one already.and mine has 8 hyms not
one.
I like the look of the double plate idea. That way the heim joint is being support from both sides. I was thinking 3/4 or bigger as well. The same kind of heims they use on 4 link setups on drag cars.
Steve, this is the torsion tube end, this is not a kit as far as I know this is a custom build but it would be very easy to do.
Cheers Stephen
Hi
This is the one that Eagle in the states sell. http://www.eagleperformance.com/CoilOverKits.html It locates in the torsion housing like the alloy one that 555 has shown,
but its not double sided. The thing to worry about is the stress on the top shock mount for the coilover, maybe 5 bar Kafer Cup brace would
suffice.

sports sedans that produce 1.8 G use 1/2 inch heim joints in double shear have no probs so a light weight should do fine just make sure that loads line up with pivot points
