Jamboree brings out the best import cars in Australia . It was a real downer ,the weather over the week-end .
The rerun will be on 13 October , get out and support the vee-dub guys !Well that date had to change as most staff will be at warwick Drag Fest ,so
new date is Nov 3 :P

Nice pics Pete - it was a shame about the weather. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the re-run at least (to spectate).
Pete, can you tell me if Rod and Morgan run the 6in erco's on the rear of their beetles? And do they fit under stock width guards? I know Rod has
type III rear drums but can't remember what Morgan has.
cheers
Alan
Every one ready?!
Big day is Saturday.
Morgan is leading the "All Motor" points series,
and Rod and Myself will be there to try to fight off the second place guy(I know they read this...Ha! Honda Boys!!)
Bring a hat and sun screen.
Dave , I was going to ride shotgun for you. Al, I run the 5 5/8 ercos and a 6 inch M&H ,with the Type 3 brakes they sit under the guards better.
Cheers Rod. I think I may keep my oval rear brakes for now as I may try the 6in rear ercos (may need to go slightly wider rear guards).
Good luck to you guys racing on saturday - hope everything goes to plan!
It's going to be like 32deg in Brisbane so will be a bit warmer out there. I will be there with some nice big industrial fans to keep us and the cars kool.....
Rod and Pete have taken the chop top to Willowbank for a shake down before Jambo on saturday. Hopefully the weather will hold out and car runs without a hitch.
How did the chop go?
We towed up to test but the event was cancelled ,after no ambulance was coming .There was some mix up !
Rod still had a cruze around pits and car still on trailer ready for week-end .
Anyone heard how any of the boys went?
I got some info...
Unfortunately not much to report that was great.
The heat proved to be a real tough one, and we all struggled to get consistent qualifying.
Rod Richardson in the Chop Top ran in the high twelves in qualifying,
which was great for his first time behind the wheel, of this car.
And then a 12.4 in the first round was a double break out loss against Morgie in the Brown Bug.
Morgan won his first round with a high 12, but red lit on a good pass in the second round.
I had my car on KILL from the start line(7300),
which proved too much for the poor tranny in round two.
Looks like I broke the Berg Intermediate housing.
I did do a personal best however in qualifying of a 11.25@119.9 (8200 rpm in 4th gear!!)
Congrats on the PB Dave.
VERY impressive!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done Dave on the PB - and sorry to hear about the box......luckily you at least have the skills to fix your own damage!
Rod workinh on the Chop Top with the engine from "48IDA".
Morgie's spiffy Ercos with zero offset and Vintage disc kit.
Beam is narrowed 50mm too.
11.25@119.9mph
Nice one guys
Any 11 sec ALLMOTOR Hondas on that day ?
Jason Alcorn was in the low 12s,
and one of the other cars did crack and elleven I believe(sorry I cant remember names).
Pehaps Brennden may know which car.(closet honda fan)
I think it was a local one which is a geen silver metalic colour?
Scare thing was the new record holder 20B RX7 that was in the 10.3"s (!)
The green silvery colour EG civic did a good job of sandbagging in the first round letting one of the Alcorn boys(silver Civic) take the win with a
big nanna nap on the line like "give you couple of seconds heads start away" and add a few while you sat and starred at the green light LOL.
The Green/silver civic did run some good numbers earlier in the day with some times around the high 12's low 13's in the 30-35 deg heat. Track temp
hit just on 50 deg just after lunch!!
Series 7 RX7 with PP 20B ran like it should with some real fast numbers in the heat. 10.37 @126ishMPH which will and trully set the AM record
again.
Alcorn boys ran their consistant numbers all day. silver car ran high 13' to low 14's and the red car ran low 12's and i thought I saw it run like
11.90ish.
Morgan hung a cherry by a poofteenth in the 2nd round which cost him the championship. All he had to do was make the final to take it but was not to
be. tough luck Morgie but there's always next season!!
Dangerous was out to drive his car like he stole it and did that nicely until Mr Berg let him down on what was going to be a super run. At least you
know a good box repairer eh Dave LOL
Rod ran the chop top for the first time with the engine out his blue bug. took a couple of runs to get the handle on the kombi box and the difference
in the shifters with landing 3rd making life fun. 1st round he had Morgan and both cars left the line hard with good reactions but both broke out with
Rod breaking out more by just thousands of a sec to advance Morgan to the next round.
Day started off with 11 car field but finished with 8 after a few breakages and one no show.
Results weren't what he hoped for but the heat certainly(and the damm flies) didn't help either.
Congrats to all who competed and look forward to next season with some more volksies to hopefully compete to bolster the ranks against the honda's
and rotaries.....
Congrats on the PB Dave. Looks like I've got some updating to do to my list.
Its a shame more of us Honda guys couldn't make it but I'm sure there will be plenty there next year. Any chance we will se you guys in Sydney for
the round at WSID in May? We've got some throttle bodies going on our car very shortly so looking so better our 11.90's.

Looks like I was able to keep my third place in points for the series with a total of 240.
At least i will get some food money!
Morgan equalled the winners points at 300 but was given the second place,
due to his loss one round earlier in the meeting than Glenn.
Congrats to Glenn Alcorn (silver Honda) for the series win, in the second year in a row(not bad for a young fella!)
And to Sam in the Mazda RX7 (20B PP) for anhillating the record down to a 10.345...129.82mph!
Good to see his hard work and persistence finally pay off.
Despite my three missed 2nd to 3rd gear changes I had a ball. The Chop feels like a race car. Once Pete does a bit more "Rod-proofing" of the car it
will be even better.
Thanks for all the work to get the car there Pete. If you want a VW race car built speak to this man.
ROD working !!!! Yep !!! ready for asleep I think !!!!
Did anyone notice the low current generator ?
Nice shots.
Looks like you're leaning forward to keep the wheels down.......sorry but it didn't work....
