Lucky it was just VW parts, and not even MORE expensive aftermarket stuff.
I had a couple of failures like that before upgrading to some strong rods and Pistons.
Make sure you get good gudgeon pins too.

Cold failure of a rod like that(and Mahle piston and pin) is common at about 300 FW HP.
Especially if the rod has had an "experience" in its past.

Hence why Troy bit the bullet and bought some carillo rods and new barrels and CP pistons. Not worth the risk.
