Good luck to all going to the event, both on the track and highway. I wish I was going, maybe next year.
Take plenty o pics !!
there is always warwick
Portland hasnt even been run yet mate!
...................................................................................................come on Warwick....
If they have half the fun in Portland that we do in Warwick it will be a hoot and a credit to the organisers and sponsors.......
Anyone, PLEEEEASE post some results as they happen or ring me!!
This goes for the Test&Tune on Friday for anyone down there early.
With this modern world of Lap-tops and mobile phones with internet access,
I am looking forward to any info!
Good luck everyone, and keep safe on the road AND track!
Is there an entry list anywhere?
Be nice to know WHO is actually running
for people close by that are undecided on wether it is worth the drive out there.
Pete is running friday night in the T/N/T. He is going to call and let him know hoe he is going. Spoke toi him this arvo @ 2.45pm and they were travelling well sitting on about 100-110km'hr and had just crossed the NSW/VIC border.
Just got back from the dyno with exit mould.
A totally new car and combo made 164 kw at the wheels.
I will put a fresh set of plugs in it and Mark will be on his way Fri morning.
Stylin is ready and we will be leaving at about lunch time.
Ahhh
The excitement of a big meet.
next year hey Dave?
I think there will be quite a few of us "northern folks" making the trek next year myself included. Disappointed I couldn't make it this year, but
eagerly awaiting pics/news/vids/stories from all the crew there.....its getting me excited for warwick just thinking about it!
Al
Yeah hopefully next year I will have the ability to go as I will organise my time off with the new boss who may just attend with me.
UPDATE FROM PORTLAND
Just spoke to Pete Page from the track. They arrived safely and everything is good. Track and facilities are great according to Pete but the weather
isn't. It has rained on and off all day so the test and tune that was sceduled for tonight has been called off. It looks like a front moving through
so hopefully tomorrow will be clearer and drier. Apparantly a lot of very nice and neat cars are at the track which is always worth a look.

As long as when you get home you are not "on your own".

So.
What is the weather like there this morning?
If they can get some breaks from the showers the cars will be fast (good air).
It is 35 here today. I wonder if anyone took warm clothes?!
Check this site out.

Just come away from the track here at Portland - light showers but the wind is blowing the track dry and cars are out and running. A good showing by many states but for some reason very few Victorians (seems odd seeing that it is in their backyard) Much fun being had by all.
Bloody Victorian sooks scared of a bit of wet weather!!!! I'm on a Toyota forum and they have a national meet in june every year. The least
represented state each time is Victoria!!! they have the biggest mouths and the fastest and best cars but they never show up. So they say anyway...
Put your money where your mouth is i say!!!!!
I thought there would have been heaps of VW's from Vic seeing as it is their event but I guess latte's at the local coffee shop are more
important
I heard Mike Waldron ran a 6.3 and 120mph!!!!
That is low nines at 150 for a 1/4 mile track.
Any other feed back of anyone else yet?

So guys, where's the pic's?

No word on Pagey's car?
THIS THREAD IS USELESS WITHOUT PICS
And I thought this techo age was all about sending info when it happens!!!!!
WHERE ARE THE PICS?
Pleeeeeeaaaaase
USELESS WITHOUT TIMES !
6.30 @ 120 MPH..
Now that is impressive. Congrats to Dave, Michael and the crew.
There has to more!!!
OK.
I rang Peter Page and he was due to go out for his frst run shortly.
He did not attempt a run yesterday due to repeated showers that came in from the south.
Mike did run a low six at 120 in Dave Stokers beatiful car,
but this was the very first run down the track yesterday and so things did not improve from that point.
By comparison, my best speed was 117(6.19) on a 147mph run, so as you can see, it will run close to 150 at the 1/4 mile.
Pete told me that Wayne had a very busy last couple of weeks prep,
and after dramas with the transporter on the way down,
and with the blue hillclimb car hurting its valve train after an over rev,
and the orange car making some nasty tranny noises(but not broken) he decided to make an early start home yesterday.
Pete did say that Wayne pulled a "hell" skid with the orange car to put on a great showing for the fans.
Pete did not know what times Adam Debiasi had run, but said it looked and sounded fast,
but a scary moment in the deep end for him when a front tyre blew at speed.
Apparently the car is fine, and Adam just has left some skid marks on the track (and elsewhere!).
Rodney had about 4 attempts to run but missed shifts in two runs, Pete said, and did get two semi-clean runs but was unsure of the time or speed.
He was heard in the background of the phone call checking the throttle response and rev limiter as only Rodney can. Sounded pretty sweet!
Pete and rod drove 2062 km to get there, so it was quite a drive(bypassing melbourne).
Looks like better weather today being cool, windy and overcast, but no showers yet.
Good luck guys!!
Thanks for the update Dave.
Sounds like a few dramas for the hotties in Portland.
What about the local cars???
Maybe not so many streeters??
