Bond , Micheal Nash raced cranky before Mike Kristen own it ,with 2276cc carb motor . Rod Richardson step up and bought his motor for his 61 bug .
Drag car was sold with a smaller motor (1915 cc I think ) I'll fined some pics .
The motor, that is in LEON's MOTORS add in VWMA is his ,for the new prostocker bug .
The small motor was actually 1835cc and had mechanical injection.
It ran a best of 11.9@110mph
The 2275 ran a best of 11.12@119.9mph. (1.45 sixty foot time!!)
Yes, that was a light car!..about 650kg WITH driver!
The Autocraft engine that was stored at Leons was a 2702cc.
It was assembled by Craig Brown at Crankshaft.
Craig also upgraded the heads.
Michael ported the manifolds, and set up of the vac pump, alternator, drysump and Terminator carbs.
Should be a pretty stout combo in a proven chassis combo from Ron Lummus.
270 to 280hp with vac pump?
Where are you Michael!!?
Yes it has been a while. be real nice to see the new car completed and on the track say by warwick(hint hint)
I got some door rubbers of Michael about a year ago. He is living near me and apparently has no dub at present. He did say he still had a lot of WCM stuff around from the shop. I think his 1835 was the quickes on the planet for a while...although I was told that by a guy that used to work for him...can't recall his name, drove a sweet blue 60's cab. Long time ago now, I was just out of school and used to pop into volkwerks and wolks restore for chats
Sorry guys but my son nicked all of your balloons at the Hotrod Show
Have spoken to Michael Nash at Winternationals ,so we cought up on all the good goss .He's hoping that all painting will be finished in 4weeks ,so
body can go back on . All major electric's done with quick alease plugs ,chassis is rolling on all 4wheels , motor all plumed up (dry sump) ,fuel
lines done . Hoping for a personal spy on car soon .
