VW Warwick 2008
VWMA Editor - May 2nd, 2008 at 07:30 AM

Hi Everyone,

Welcome on board Vollkommen Art for VW Warwick 2008. Although George and Nick have not quite yet decided which car will be competing, rest assured there will a Speed & Style car on the grid. And this is another car all the way from Victoria.

It has been pointed out to me that the printable version of the entry form does not list a postal address. There is a reason for this (ie, a post box full of junk mail from non-VW web crawlers), so please post to:

VWMA
PO Box 3551
Loganholme
Qld 4129

It would also be useful for the tower commentator if you could supply a photo or perhaps additional information on your car and yourself for the weekend.

The VW Tappet Cover race track is already to go and has been supplied by the VWDCQ club here in Queensland. The track is a purpose built marine ply, two lane track, covering a distance of approximately 12 metres. There is a manual starting gate and full length track barriers. The track will be setup in the main marquee. Please refer to the latest issue of VWMA for the rules and conditions. The competition will commence at 8.30pm after the evening dinner on Saturday.

Coverage of VW Warwick will be in the November issue of VWMA, which will be released three weeks after the event, so the weekend will still be quite fresh with everyone who competed or attended. Hot Rod Matt Sherwood will be the official VWMA and Warwick photographer again this year, so make a point of smiling when the camera is pointed your way.

4 weeks to entry cut-off. No late entries accepted. Field is looking impressive at this stage. Gate passes, etc will be posted this week to entries received so far.

See you at Warwick.

Cheers
Craig Hughes

First official entry (001) goes to Lindsay Inch in the V8 powered Beetle. He's looking forward to a re-match with Aaron Roberts in the VW Bodied Other Engine Class.

I hope he has found another 200 or so Hp to compete against Aaron. I know Aaron has a few more ponies in the back of his bus.....

Time is moving on quickly ! Made our accommodation this week and we couldn't book a room at our normal hotel (centre point ), all booked out . Again was told that other events are on in town that week-end again ,so I'd say you better chase up your accommodation if you plan to stay in town !
This year is looking to be bigger & better again with car up grades and new rides being built .
Maybe we can start a list ,on who plans on entering ?

Rod Richardson

Hi Craig

When I spoke to you at Valla I thought you said that you only needed to be over 16 to compete, on the VWMA website it says that they must be over 17, did I misunderstand you?

Steve

VWMA Editor - August 22nd, 2008 at 06:01 PM

Hi Steve,

PM sent.

Also, I broke the motor in the drag rat yesterday. I think I got too excited on the twisty stuff at Valla, and on Leon's Motors new 600hp dyno, we found the limits of a well thrashed engine. Oh well, better now than Warwick, but I wouldn't have swapped the Valla racing fun for quids. Rod Penrose will have a replacement block together for me shortly.

VW Warwick updates next week.

I will be racing my oval at Warwick for some fun don't laugh at me if I stall it.
