mmmmmmm.......forced induction

11CAB - September 29th, 2008 at 05:38 PM

That thing definately sounds cranky under boost.....

PartyHatCentral - September 29th, 2008 at 09:52 PM

The car performed extremely well and without fault, and we're looking forward to more action this weekend (go easy on us, we're pretty new at this!). No times. Hopefully traction off the start will be a bit better next week after more track prep, though it was still launching pretty hard from a 4000 stall. Still hard to believe this car was street registered virtually 'as is' in California (only expired 12 months ago!).

Peter - window was only down for golden photo op!

As for the sound - what I heard was nice!

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - September 29th, 2008 at 10:46 PM

That is so good to see that car on the track. Well done guys.

Dusty name suits I reckon:tu:

Dak-A-Tak - September 30th, 2008 at 12:36 AM

ute61 - September 30th, 2008 at 10:46 PM

jedidan - October 1st, 2008 at 12:50 PM

My money is on you Rohan/Mick - so don't let me down....!

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - October 1st, 2008 at 01:03 PM

they'll be plenty of fast out there this weekend. this just adds another car to watch and see....

11CAB - October 5th, 2008 at 09:22 PM

I think Rohan did well at his first attempt at Drag Racing and getting used to the car as well.
I think his best time was 7.7sec with him backing off at the end but broke out on his 7.9 dial in.

I tell you what... It's pretty damn intimidating having that thing tearing up behind you on the drag strip!

jedidan - October 6th, 2008 at 10:30 AM

Another pic......Congrats Rohan....impressive work out there :tu:

dangerous - October 6th, 2008 at 02:43 PM

Thats a cool pic that last one.
Shame I did not get a chance to come and say hello.

What times and speeds did you run Rohan?

Looks like you got plenty of 'seat time' at Warwick,
which is a great chance being it was a car that you were not familiar with.

...especially one with the driver on the left!!

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - October 6th, 2008 at 04:32 PM

Good jobs guys. great to see the car on track in the thick of it!!

WOW!
How fast did you go Rose?!:dork:

rose - October 6th, 2008 at 09:24 PM

Dusty did a great time but brokeout, but a win is a win
It was heaps of fun.

PartyHatCentral - October 7th, 2008 at 08:59 PM

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words - I think a great weekend was had by all who attended, and I met some great people. We were all very happy with how the car performed (with the only small issue being the accelerator cable separating from it's end at the carb on saturday - easily fixed!), and I had an absolute blast driving it up the strip! All things considered, I reckon I did OK for a first ever drag racing attempt by a complete novice! - though my reaction times leave a lot to be desired.. hopefully this will improve with more practice.

For those who are interested, I set my dial in at 7.90 after running some reasonably consistant times Saturday arvo -
8.021@87.20
7.946@89.46
7.942@89.29

First couple of Sunday wins -
8.053@88.58
8.143@87.38

Then I'm not sure what happened - I think the 'red mist' that I keep hearing about got into my helmet and I finished the rounds with two breakouts -
7.730@81.67
7.74(according to video/audio recording) @??- my printout was mucked-up so ET/speed was illegible.. (I was racing V123 - I think that was you Rose? If so, please let me know the details!).

What was really suprising for me was the fact that I backed off on these final two passes after catching the other cars and was even on the brakes well before the traps, and still well improved my time! I was trying to play the bracket game, but part of me now wishes I had just kept it flat to see what those times could have been, as they did feel fast from the start!! Oh well, there's always the next race.. I think I may have caught the drag 'bug'! The dust has officially been blown off!

bond - October 7th, 2008 at 09:12 PM

did it go fast enough to blow the dust off?

I was V88 the one when you did your 7.73@8167 run.
Now the dust has gone it will go faster.
It was my first ever drag race as well. Would of been fun in your bug.
My best time was a 10.653@63.11

dangerous - October 7th, 2008 at 09:53 PM

7.7's is more than fast enough to blow the dust off!!
Good effort Rohan.
Hope to see you at the track again soon.

That is a good effort from you too Rose!
Your car looks great, and the performance is better than most modern hohum cars.
Now you need a trip to WSID to try the 1/4 mile!

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - October 8th, 2008 at 07:01 AM
