Hi guys
Can you tell me what gear box do I need for a swing axle for drag racing. I need a used one.
What year model bug?
and what numbers on gear box do I need to look for?
As I'm putting a 1915 in my 58 bug for Warwick this year.
Thanks heaps
Rose
Best stock choice would be a '73 or later 1300 trans.
I think is has an AM code stamped on the under side.
AB code should have the same ratio, but may not be as strong in the first gear and spider gear area.
Other identifying items are a very long clutch arm and bolt-on clutch cable bracket on the side cover.
Also three bolt mount on nose one, that can be changed back over to early style with 7 nuts and a gasket.
But just solid mount that sucker with custom mounts under the bell housing and intermediate studs.(no nose cone mount).
OH!
Here you go:

I'm a big fan of L Bug box's, but your limited by your budget, as with most things.
Yes I don't want to spend a fortune as I just want to put it in for to have some fun at Warwick.
Thanks Dave for the info much appreciated.

OK we have a 1300 box , 1916 engine with twin 44s, we will have to make a start getting it ready for Warwick
Here's the engine that's going in him.
dona car for gear box
either there is a midget in ya donor there rose........
or a young daughter i din't know you had.........
or are you shrinking now you've gone past 40? (they say it does happen!)LOL
I had fun getting it down the side of the house with just a handbreak that almost didn't work. Yeah I also thought that I looked very funny like a
ricer
Do you think that it would be a good seat height for my seat to drag race and back a bit?

40?!
Yeah right.
I like you Dave sticking up for me. The young wipper snapper's
having a go at me about being old.

so what bug is that 1500?
will that handle the hp's?
btw that dose look very funny you could do a 12" roof chop and still see out
milk crate on the floor?? Drove a beetle with a milk crate for a seat once. Was indeed an exerience!!
you pair of dags DB and Rosie ........we're the
same bloody age (well close enough).......and since when was saying someone could be mistaken for their daughter less than a compliment
you need 1 5/8 merged exhaust for this 1916?, i'll give you one.....
Hi Damien
It's funny a few people now have thought that Ian is my day as well so I must be doing alright I think its halarious when they ask
can I go get my dad to talk to about the vw's.
Thanks heaps I would love the exhaust, are you going to Hawks nest car show or maybe someone from up there is going to go to the show next month that
could bring it along. Does it have a muffler?
Or is someone coming down before then would be great to get it going soon as I'm thinking about taking it to Gunnedah for a run end of next month.
Thanks heaps
Rose
ps milk crates are fun to use for a seat you fall off when you go around corners
Good old BUZ, 58 model 1192 is solid as a rock he will handle the extra hp no worries.
Can't wait to have some fun on the road with the 1915 in him.

I also need a new set of five wide wheels to fit on 4 wheel drums.
These race seats come out of a escort that someone used to race or rally around in years ago, forgot the blokes name , they have a wire mesh under the
base.
here's a pic of my engine now with my nice extractors thanks Damo I got Ian to clean them for me And I have stinger to put on them as
well.
drags yum
Exhausts looks heaps better now! nice. interesting seats you have there...
jeeez, should've cleaned em first hey, could have doubled the bill........
