Sacramento Bugorama updates
Dasdubber - May 24th, 2009 at 03:50 PM

Hi everyone,

Just got back to the hotel after a great day of action at the Sacramento Bugorama practice/qualifying sessions.

Now 10.30pm here so I'll try and get a few pics up and some video over the next few days when I get a chance to upload it all to the net. Will also try a bit harder to remember some of the ET/MPH details of the runs as today was a bit of a blur taking in all the amazing set ups/cars/racing.

Basic summary is that this event was to have the biggest Pro Mod field to date although Eric Madsen lunched his motor early in his second qualifying pass so that will cut the field down a little.

Richie Webb (UK vert) ran into the 9s and I'm pretty sure Eric Madsen and Eric Calabrese (Red Barron) ran into the 8s in their runs (before aforementioned problems).

Roger Crawford is running well in Super Street as are some of the other field (one from memory into the high 9s).

Anyway, like I said, sorry for the sketch details - a bit more will come back to memory once I view the videos.

Cheers
Al

PS the real action starts tomorrow so stay tuned for updates!

Al this is teasing plain and simple. Damm i envy you right about now.......

Can you get some pics of some big Type 4 engines in cars. Want to see some cooling ideas.....

Dasdubber - May 24th, 2009 at 04:56 PM

I'll see what I can do Brennden, didn't see too many big type IV's today but will keep my eyes peeled tomorrow.

Just finished uploading all the photos from today to my website (not all racing related, some splitty stuff etc)....
http://dasrestohaus.com.au/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=5655

Will have to do vids tomorrow as its a new camera and don't know how to upload them yet
Al

Other cool stuff seen today included the Eserini team run a new record for water cooled vw engines in their dragster with a 7.4x second quarter backed up in a second run. Have met a heap of the racers like Muffler Mike, a few of the red barron team and others - all the names you read about in the mags and on the net. Overall most people have been happy to chat to a nosy, drag-keen Aussie :)

Dak-A-Tak - May 24th, 2009 at 06:05 PM

Good-one buddy ! thanks for the pic's . Make sure you buy heaps for your self ( event shirt - for me  ) Chase up Marty about your motor ,we want to see turbo power in the oval .
Have fun everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great day of racing again today...more updates later but for now Eric Madsen (Red Barron) (8.818 @ 170.67) took out pro mod final against Pat in the Fiat (backed off before the line for 10.741 @ 87.75).

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - May 26th, 2009 at 10:06 PM

So how many cars did you buy Al? Seeing as there were a lot of pics of cars for sale especially Spilits LOL

Dasdubber - May 27th, 2009 at 08:45 AM

Haha....unfortunately after finding the funds to just make the trip I barely have enough to buy any parts, never mind cars! :)

Turbo54 - May 27th, 2009 at 09:30 AM

Lucky you Al, Would be a great experience, maybe one day.
I like how a lot of the turbo guys seem to be doing a similar setup to mine with the tanks over the heads and watercooling.
When I first did mine I couldn't find any info on this and took the gamble that it works. Do they seem to be performing?

Dasdubber - May 28th, 2009 at 12:01 PM

Hey Heath, it does seem to be more prevalent in some of the cars now (IC atop inlet manifolds) - the main one I saw was Jeff Lovell (silver pro mod beetle with the broken clutch) - really nice guy to chat to but I didn't go into depth about his setup.

I've just uploaded the Super Street final (side by side all motor 9 second passes between Roger Crawford and Doug Gonzalez who took out the event).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea_PnrEPCGA

Bit of a long vid and funny angle but hopefully is worthwhile watching - I'm learning this whole video thing not having owned one before! will get more vids up over the next couple of weeks (takes ages to upload!).
