Seconded! That is insane.... what are the details?

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - September 11th, 2009 at 07:03 PM

20b turbo with hair dryer off a Mack truck LOL

bridge port, water to air intercooler custom exhaust manifold and dump pipe, aftermarket ECU obviously LOL

Peak power at about 6k!! you thought last year was something to see......

congrats on the results again Aaron. Perseverence pays off!!

dangerous - September 11th, 2009 at 07:05 PM

Yes that is at the wheels.
Perhaps Aaron will post up a pic of the graph.
It is the Black 20B Kombi from Warwick last year,
that only(!) had 570 last year and went 6.8 then.

Some may not like that it is a non-VW engine,
but if you know Aaron you will realised he is a hard-core Volksy Dude, and all round good guy,
which makes it just fine with me.

Dasdubber - September 11th, 2009 at 07:08 PM

Well done again Aaron - man, on pump fuel too! It is surprising how sedate it still sounded today around idle and low revs. That would be a scary ride when you open it right up!

Holy crap batman !!!

I've said it before, Aaron is the nicest crazy guy I've ever met - great stuff dude.

So are we going to open up a book on far it carries the wheels this year ???

bajachris88 - September 11th, 2009 at 07:54 PM

man, this thing at valla was freakin awesome!
i neva seen rubber burn like such. it was just so easy for it.
i want one...

wait!

two....

13b type 3 - September 11th, 2009 at 08:06 PM

and i took that beast (thomas) for a drive the other day (and i liked it). when i gave it a little and changed from 2nd to 3rd it made me smile.:). You can feel the power and it feels strong and safe on the road. Good work aaron

p.s the crazy bugger parked the kombi this arvo and started to work on his brothers kombi, he never stops.

typethreeking - September 11th, 2009 at 08:31 PM

yes i was at aaron this arvo suppling a few fittings to make up a air cleaner to cover the 6inch front cover on the new turbo until the new air cleaner arrives. From 80hp at 80km/h to 715hp at 140km/h it really ramps up fast. Great work mate, let me know how you go with the dyno tomorrow so we can arrange what we are doing sunday

11CAB - September 11th, 2009 at 08:35 PM

So i hope Aaron is taking plenty of axles & cv's to Warwick.....

Here's my vid from Warwick last year with only 570hp

Hi its Aaron,

Sorry guys i took so long, got side tracked with another vw.

I would like to thank all vw folk who support me, and help get this master pice of mine so far.

I'll post all spec's soon, no black magic here, just self taught and r&d.

Have to go back to the dyno to reset the fuel presure as the guage was reading incorrect (90psi instead of 45) bugger. oh well.:)

4am start at work tomorrow so talk soon.

Crazy numbers, great stuff :)

matberry - September 12th, 2009 at 12:03 AM

Well done Aaron. :tu::tu::tu: Must be one wild ride.

FROSTY - September 12th, 2009 at 06:32 AM

MAD MAD MAD !!! Time to start betting how far you will carry the front wheels....Nice work mate

OZ Towdster - September 12th, 2009 at 07:03 AM

Is that Tame or Lame???

oldskl60 - September 12th, 2009 at 10:29 AM

Great work Aaron!! Fingers crossed for the CVs, axles and tranny.

STIDUB - September 12th, 2009 at 02:54 PM

cv's & axles are only dunnydore parts, beats being destroyed slowly by a bogan doing 1wheel skids at maccas
how many people are going to have eyes glued to the track this time? hope he doesnt suffer from stage fright with the audience :tu:

Stanley - September 12th, 2009 at 06:20 PM

Judas Priest Aaron.....that's awesome.

Another reason to go to Warwick

westi - September 13th, 2009 at 05:41 PM

that's awsome power, and that turbo hasn't even hit it's efficiency yet.
congrates dude. not to tops for the drivetrain though.i hope you got heaps of spares.cause i can wait to hear it frying those tyres at warwick.

Flintstones - September 13th, 2009 at 08:09 PM

That's awesome:tu:, what times are you expecting to do?
Cheers

colonel mustard - September 14th, 2009 at 12:29 PM

I went to take a photo of the turbo, but it sucked in my iphone and ate it...... hahaha. but seriously, the turbo is huge......

My guess would be somewhere around the 6.30-6.70 mark over the 1/8th if he can get the power and all 4 wheels on the ground LOL

typethreeking - September 14th, 2009 at 07:36 PM

the car ran 6.8sec at 102mph last year with 570hp atw so this year it should run into the mid to low 6ses mark so long as the gearbox will stand up and get the power to the ground. Aaron has rebuilt that gearbox 6 times while it was making 570hp so he could be in for some more long nights rebuilding trannys..

Flintstones - September 14th, 2009 at 09:44 PM

So would this be the fastest ever Kombi then??

May be, i'm not sure.

Back from the dyno this arvo and it made 715hp 3 times, 714hp 3times 15psi (must be the wether) and about 710about 6.
Also tryed it with the air cleaner on, 701hp

Got the turbo comming on faster with more timing
And power is still 655hp at 9500rpm

All is safe 715 again 15.8psi 11.5 A/F 6'adv timing 98 BP on tap, yumm yumm.

I'ts time to reset the crownwheel and mabe pinion.
Will order albins 4 cv cages before warwick.
