Got my bug to the strip....
chunks54 - September 15th, 2009 at 09:20 PM

Had a good few weeks with the car, made two trips to different tracks in two weeks, first up to York raceway and then a week later to Santa pod.

York went well, first passes on the new turbo setup, taking it pretty easy with the boost set at 7 psi and running my old street radials cos they're nice and hard as I didn't want to stress out the trans while checking the engine setup. Netted a best time for the weekend of 13.25 @ 110 mph, which I was pleased with.

Santa Pod the week later I was all fired up to run my new M&H DOT stickt tyres (all eight inches of 'em!) but once trackside and fitted realised the fouled the arches.... so back to the old street treads again but knocked doqwn to 18 psi, and a best of 12.8 @ 109mph.

Shame its the end of our race season here as there'sm still plenty I want to tweak... oh well will haave to wait for next year now....

The 18 psi was the tyre pressure btw, not the boost!

Cool car Chunks.
I guess from now on it will get cold and wet in the UK?
Our days over here are becoming hotter since it is our summer near the end of the year.

I think with 110mph you will run a much better time with the M&H's!

Nice looking oval mate. Cool paint scheme. I was going to paint my next bug something similiar.

Cheers guys. I was thinking that the terminal speeds seem pretty healthy too, so hopefully next season I'll be able to bring those times down a bit with better tyres and more seat time.

I Used to run 9 psi with Avon 205/65 street tyres at the pod. After a nice burn got pretty good grip.Slicks are the way to go but.Easier on the gearbox too.
