hope the weather is good
Weather was good a bit hot. But a fun weekend with Buz I surprised a lot of people with how quick of the start the old brown bug could launch and one
the guys racing a bike said and I even saw her get the picinic basket out of the boot this morning. I love it heap and heaps of fun.
We got pulled up by a cop about 20klms out of Gunnedah as I said to Ian I'm going to pull over and let you drive as I'm tired as we got up at 4am.
So we pulled up Ian ran around the front of the Hilux and I ran around the back and jumped over the trailer hitch as we had just over took this double
truck and wanted to get going again so we didn't get stuck behind him again. As Ian just pulled out onto the road a cop pulled out of a gravel road
on the other side of the road with lights flashing Ian said he's not after us we haven't done anything I said I think he wants us to pull over as
I'm sure he was pointing at us. And guess what he did want us to pull over. He said what was going on back there with the quick driver change. Ian
said she was tired so we where just swapping over and told him about the truck that's why we where quick. He than asked for drivers licences for
both of us and asked Ian to do a breath test. Than he said wait there while I do a check. I said he's got to be joking how stupid could you be to
see a cop and change drivers if you where unlicensed or something. He came back to us and said sorry all good you can go now..
Than about 10klms up the road with Ian driving a tyre not a retread on the trailer the whole tread let go in one big strap and whacked the plastic
guard off the trailer and flew it across to the other side of the road a few meters into the long grass and the tread off the tyre lucky nothing was
coming the other way. The tyre still had air in it with just the canvas case still in tack. How lucky the cop wasn't following us
See that's why I always do the driving look what happens when he drives
After all that we still made it to scrutineering on time. Got the Buz off the trailer and Ian removed the spare as it didn't have much tread on it
and went into town and got 2 new tyres for the trailer.
I beat a big throbbing HR Holden with a V8 fuel injected with 8 throttle bodies on my first race in the finals with a 10.5 dial in I was stoked
2nd race in the finals I raced a V8 ut changed my dial in to a 10.58 and I would have beat him but I broke out with a 10.52 I still beat him across
the line he broke out as well but I did by more. still heaps of fun there's always next time
I will post some pics up tomorrow as a bit tired after a big weekend away.
I was the only vw for the weekend everyone was impressed by how hard it launched of the start so I was happy to be in a vw.
We need to get the real drag VW'S up there to show them what that can do.
Here are some pics of the last event they had up there enjoy.
