What is everyone doing post Warwick?
Boostn - October 14th, 2009 at 08:47 PM

How is everyone feeling after Warwick 2009?
Are you pumped planning next year, or for Portland 2010 where the air is better and you can go faster. Are you making changes to your ride? Or are you over it like me, with the car still on the trailer.
I am getting ready for the Vic day of Nov 15th so no action until after that.

What is the go ?

dangerous - October 14th, 2009 at 09:33 PM

Still on a high!

Been doing some tinkering again.

Dasdubber - October 14th, 2009 at 09:37 PM

Busy working trying to pay the bills. Still haven't had time to scrub the race number off the windscreen/window on the "race van" hehehe.....or maybe I just like to make the boy racers think twice about trying to take me at the lights (need all the intimidation I can get with plus-3-second 60ft times)

ian.mezz - October 15th, 2009 at 07:07 AM

we are washing our car and heading to GUNNEDAH
DRAG RACING:lol::crazy::lol:

We're racing again at Gunnedah Airport on 31 Oct & 1 Nov.

OLD-DOG - October 15th, 2009 at 08:12 AM

HOUNDOG is being dismantled & receiving ratio changes to 1st/3rd & 4th as it is undergeared. The difficult liberty pro-shift second gear is being discarded also...Having a 40 year mechanical involvement with vw repairs left me a little embarrassed at Warwick having to go from 1st to 3rd on 5 out of 8 occasions.Thank God the engine had the torque to pull it as it didn't effect the top speed over the 1/8. Furthermore 70lbs will be removed from the front & another clutch set up will also be used.
Dear Dangerous...THOSE MANIFOLDS----Due to the lack of air density at Warwick (equated to 4,000 ft) which robs 16% off the total horsepower naturally aspirated I don't think that there is enough air at Warwick to go down those inlets but on the good side you may be able to suck the stray kangaroos in !!! Regards-Ross.

FROSTY - October 15th, 2009 at 08:31 AM

Mine is back to street legal ( bumpers, exhaust and lid shut). New engine started, Case done, Crank pick up today from Dave.B, this will be nothing huge just a 1600 that will rev right out. lots of 2nd hand parts to use up, oh and with the exchange rate climbing a possibility of some US purchases.

then you can see how much the box can take! Oh yeah :)

1303Steve - October 15th, 2009 at 02:24 PM

Hi

I think if Dangerous runs his car at Warwick with those manifolds we should all hold our breath until he finishes his run, that should help with the air density.

Washed Davids bug and did some re jetting on the Dels and found that most of the pinking was caused by the Scat pulley being incorrectly marked, it was out 6 degrees, so when I set it at 10 initial it was actually 13 initial with 33 total.

Started back on my STI powered bug, mucking around sorting out axle lengths at the moment, the Au/US $ is looking good so I want to place my order in soon.

Steve

Leave it on the trailer Nick we want Junka for our Drag Car display at the Day of!! Big push for Portland numbers:cool:

typethreeking - October 15th, 2009 at 07:04 PM

the fastback came off the trailer and into the garage and hasnt moved or been started, race numbers still on the window. Other than that im waiting for my front end to turn up at work for the tube chassis car and will be picking up my new front wheels in another week and then off to get the new front of the chassis welded on and front end fitted, finally back on its wheels after all these years!!

sauron - October 15th, 2009 at 07:58 PM

Plans for my Beetle for Portland include finishing of the roll cage, one piece fibreglass front, disc brake rearend and think I will get rid of the Porsche wheels and fit some Ercos. Also with a bit of tuning should be able to knock out another 50hp.
Still stoked about the 7.998 on a dial in of 7.99 I did in the last race before the finals
Michael (MC)

colonel mustard - October 15th, 2009 at 08:34 PM

Hey Troy, what is going into the fastback once the engine is in the tubey?

vwfastback - October 16th, 2009 at 10:35 PM

Waiting for a gearbox rebuild from last Portland, and then trying to get it everything back in the same space again....

polak - October 19th, 2009 at 06:42 PM

working on customers cars makes it hard to make time for our own cars, but iv decided to get a little more serious now as i have gotten the taste for drag racing and want to build something a little more drag orientated...... next on the menu, iv decided to get a half cage put in, then im building a custom rear end support that ties the forks into the cage, also since iv decided to build a new box and upgrade the motor yet again, i dont think im going to make portland, but hopefully ill be ready for warwick if time and money permits.... possibly even valla, would love to make it there...... hmmmm, beter get cracking

so i guess my post Warwick report is that i'm getting ready to go round the corners after the fast stuff in a straight line

:punk:
