I bought a 1641 with kadrons of a mate luke 4 odd years ago, sold the kadrons for $400 so total cost ZERO dollars! It was fully reconditioned 80-!00 000 km's ago balanced, tiny re grind cam,un ported hemi cut heads 7.1 comp max.It has a couple of berg bits rocker studs on 1 head, cro mo push rods, swivel feet adjusters, and full flow pump cover.I fitted a pair of t-3 solexs and manifolds with bunnings pvc ram tubes, and a 009 and exhaust off the 2332.Other than gaskets, oil, filter, plug, leads and a tube of silicone which cost less than $50 i,ve had everything else in stock. At the drags sat testing over the 1/8 mile times to see how close i'm to a hamburger!I had 6 runs 5 r unquestionable with 11.33@58.9 best. The 1 questionable time slip has a 1.55 60ft which is totally bogus but the rest of the run looks ok but i want dave to check it out before i claim it 10.71@57.98mph!?So frosty's 1776 has gone low 9's so i'm looking at a 50-75 shot of nitrous buying some bits from pete so i have to spend a bit of cash to finish up my kit. Can't wait!If i'm lucky I'll have this motor gassed up and ready to go for less than $200.This engine is so much fun. Can't wait for stage 2.
Sounds like you got a few lucky deals there mate!! Good to see you out and about then hear your racing the same
car! all the best.

I have also gone 10.15@64mph in my 1641 street driven buggy.
That's 'with' Kadron's too
ok...how about 9.72 @ 73.29 in my '70 street driven white beetle, and
8.39 @ 78 in frankenstein....both 1641 powered (with some help)....
Houston we have a problem! The motor is chuffing a little out of cyl 2,Not that it phases me i'm way past worring about stuff especially vws just gotta fix it.Had the day off so went thru all my old junk got some old dport heads that need new exhaust seats so thats under way,37.5mm intake valves,36mm exhaust valves both stainless, berg dual springs, cro;mo retainers,a set of 1500s high compression pistons,a set of vw rods lightened w/arp bolts(all the previously mentioned parts are used and not broken so that makes them good quality!)The bottom end has good oil psi according to the light on the dash so i probably won't split the case just fit all these parts. Also got the 45mm dells off my old 1600 and all the nitrous bits so thats where i'm heading.Looks like stanleys 9.72@73.29 is pretty much the number to aim for.More news as it comes to hand.
I'd say you were crazy Col, but I think it has been said before. A nitrous mouse motor
And nobody will blow it up better than you Col. CLA all the way!! Love your work big fella!!

Phew...thanks for clearing that up Col.
I thought i'd blown up two engines but with your way of thinking i've just broken 8 pistons. Which leads me to my new signature.
"Pistons are cheap........fun is priceless"
also did you know you can get SR20 pistons which are 87mm with a 22mm pin.....
