Hey guys just thought I would make a post (been a while) as I am excited after we finally had some better luck down the strip (2442 EFI). It was cold at WSID last night so the track wasnt super sticky however we managed to pull off a pb. Had 3 runs all 12.4s with a best mph of 113. Everything held together beautifully with the car running straight as an arrow. 60ft and 1/8th times were slow with most being 2 seconds for 60ft and 8 seconds plus for the 1/8th. So we may get that 11 second pass yet ...
Well done, 113mph is surely an 11.
Sweet!
What are the engine specs?
Airkewld,
awesome job mate, well done.
Regards, Keith.
sounds great! got any photos or info on the car.
AL
Thanks to you all for the positive feedback... Reub here are a few specs it runs - 94 mm wiseco pistons, 88 mm bugpack crank, pauter rockers, cb comp elim heads, engle cam and twin 50mm throttle bodies... We did the runs with the exhaust on ,air cleaners and street radials . . . will post some pics for you guys soon
Im not 100% sure on the compression but im fairly sure its around 11.5 : 1 and the cam is an Fk89.
200ish hp at the wheels!.......yeah haaaaaa
Here are a Few Pics

Congrats on a successful outing! That makes for a damn tough streeter!!
Look forward to hearing/seeing more!

Are you taking it to Warick?
AmaIng car! Great time sheet!
Btw what wheels are they??
Lowbug im not sure if we will be taking it to warwick yet due to other commitments.... OMclarke the wheels are weld..
How much difference time wise do you guys think you could save by running a full slick compared to M & H racemaster dot's.
on my green turbo beetle i had m&h rasemasters (235s) and it would 60ft in the 1.6 sec no problems (11.8 @ 115)i put on a 26x6 slick and it felt
no different same 60
thanks adam
thanks for that Adam ... We havnt been able to get the greatest grip off the line and have only been able to achieve 1.9 (best) or 2 second 60ft. The track was very cold and not very sticky which was probably the biggest factor... Its the first half of the track which needs dramatic improvements. We are running about 20psi is that too high... do you recommend less?
20psi is alot higher than what i ran i normally set it at around 12psi and fined tuned it from there depending on grip on the day
adam
I agree with all you've said Adam, 12=13 PSI starting point, M/T's every bit as good as a 6" slick for a n/a beetle.
Thats a really impressive mph, easy 11s for sure. I have run a 1.6 60ft on M and H dot legal 215s at 19 psi. Or on 205 radials 1.95s. Im in NZ and these runs were at night, so generally cold and not a highly prepped track. I did find getting some decent heat into the tyres made a big difference - 2nd gear burnouts and leaving the line at around 6k. Im running a 2442 as well so some similarities there I guess !
What happen to this beetle at the drags tonight ? The run I saw was a 13.15, but it had heaps of smoke coming out of the engine bay........hope its all ok ??
Hit the track again last night and made another pb of 12.32 with mph down a little at 109.64. On the last run the engine seemed to get a little hot and it was smoking quite heavily. Not sure of the damage yet but it was making a "ticking" sound after the run. We were able to drive it back to the pits so I dont think it will be anything too major. We lowered the psi in the tires to around 15 which made a difference with a best 60ft of 1.75... Hopefully now we can get those times to continually come down and get back the good mph of our first outing.
Some great times being posted!
Let me and OMclarke know when you and any of the other vw boys are heading out. We go out to watch now and then and always want some Bugs out
there.
Good luck with the 11
.
who is that driving ??
My Dad Glen was driving
hehe...i thought you must have aged heaps !!
I have footage of his last run, I was 2 cars behind in the lane queue so my GOPRO filmed it !
