Sydney Dragway, NSW, March 26 & 27, 2011
Calling VWs to compete or be a part of the unique Day Of The Drags at Sydney Dragway.
Two day event at the world class Sydney Dragway featuring pre-1975 vehicles.
Old-school drag racing... for drag racers.
Limited entry numbers each day to ensure value for money and more than the usual number of passes.
Spectators can attend Saturday racing, Saturday evening entertainment, Sunday racing or purchase a weekend pass.
Saturday follows the well established Day Of The Drags format with entries open to vehicles running the quarter mile in 11 seconds or slower and also
includes the 2nd annual Sidevalve Shootout. Lunch time and afternoon entertainment includes No Brakes live on stage. You can also meet the roller
derby team from Western Sydney Rollers.
Sunday will feature vehicles with elapsed times from 10.99 and faster with E.T. grouped classes so you can see a Front Engine Dragster against a 6
second sedan. Everything from wild hot rods, FEDs, gassers and even nitro powered vehicles are invited to enter. Several nitro cars are confirmed.
Saturday night entertainment (to midnight) at the track includes live rockabilly music from Satellite V, vintage pin-up competition, twilight car

Line up change for the bands... Satellite V will now be playing on Saturday night.
This event, even when by invitation, always gets plenty of press coverage.
Several VWs have run in the past, with Henry Spicak making it to the finals last year. Great event for early VWs to mix it up and good potential to
get more dakdaks in print now that this is a major two day event!
Don't forget, the way we run the day, even if you get knocked out in eliminations you can still run all day as we have grudge racing between
competition rounds in the second half of the day.
Camping at the track for entrants.
i'll have a chat to brad
but i think we'll be keen to get the junka out for sure
Hoping to have mine up and going by then. Gunna be pretty busy with bub but
Awesome! Don't forget that entry includes driver and 5 others for the whole weekend!
Pits are also allocated for both days, so race Saturday and don't leave til Sunday arvo.
Several Top Doorslammers (appropriate pre-75 body styles) have entered along with nitro burning FEDs and a 5 second funny car!
We should also have a very special raffle prize to announce next week!
we will be there for sure.
sounds like a good weekend.
are and queenslanders gona come down for a squirt.
I'm planning to providing the new buggy works out okay at Portland.

Will be along to support the boys and girls!
I have downloaded and printed off entry forms for both Ben Ford and myself for Day Of The Drags . Entries will be submitted straight after Portland
depending on the condition of the cars.....
We are both very keen to run.....
Well, as most know already, the buggy did not go to Portland but stayed with customs in a nice warm quarantine area. All's good now, though, and Rod and I will begin the task of getting it ready for the weekend. We're confident there should not be too much difficulty with the tech inspection and we're hopeful of at least making a few test'n'tune passes on the first day. As the buggy is pretty light, we're going to start with a 1916cc engine and work out the best combo from there. Should be good fun!
from how I read the entry form you have to allocate a time that you will be running either 11 sec and slower only on Sat and faster cars on Sun 10.99
sec and quicker.
It's on the top of the entry form.
So Craig maybe you should ring them and make sure that you are able to run on the Sat.
Let us know as I'm confused if everyone ran on Sat 200cars the slower cars wouldn't get many passes.

Reluctantly have decided not to enter this year. to busy at the moment. will be there on the day just no car.......
Come on Ben - you've got 4 weeks. There's no party without the rat!
Thats not the sort of encouragement i needed. When do the entre's close.
entry filled out and posted off today for the WPVW turbo oval ... Ben will not be running the supercharged bug as he has to go lawn bowling.... give
me a break !!
However we will both be running the following weekend at the compak attack ....
You've got until the 18th. If it makes you feel any better, I still have to get a tech on the buggy and I won't have a chance to test until the day.
Short wheel base car on the 1/4... never driven it ... mmm... that could be fun, sort of.
Lawn bowls? That's a novel excuse. Synthetic or grass? Indoors or outdoors?

i want to go ,but i can't take old smoky, with out fixin her first.
com on stock com give me a hand fatty.
Hey Matt, It's looking like a very well supported event judging by the amount of entries on the Sydney Dragway website!!
What are the chances of the VW's pitting together? - That is, if each of the VW entrants choose to
Also, do you know when will the entry list (from mail -ins etc.) will merge with the current Sydney Dragway on-line entry list?
I'll only pit near Henry if his car is presentable and all the stone chips from the Portland trip are painted.
What stone chips?
ok im in!!! New box comes next week so, hopefully get some garage time to get it together. Just dont tell Elle
Excellent. And don't worry - what happens in the garage, stays in the garage!
