Hi i thought id put it in this section as i thought some 1 might have the answer.
I've just picked up a second hand 1641 type 3 motor. It was rebuilt a few years ago. I was told it had a new cam put in a lightened fly wheel and a
few other things oh and its a single port. It ran for about 10,000ks and then was taken out so it has been sitting for a while. Not sure whether or
not to strip the top and the bottom or just the top. I have another motor with twin port heads and wondering if its worth swopping the heads and
having twin carbies. Hope some 1 can give me some advice and i've not confused you.

If you strip the top this may give you an idea what the bottom is like and then you may as well fit the TP heads. All depends what you're after.

wanted a mild up grade and this 1 was free!

Hey Telf, If you want to get the most out of that set up you should really spend the money on the heads and carbs. I built a 1641cc engine for my Manx
Containing stock crank, engle 110 cam (mild), new 1641 piston barrel kit, racing lifters chromoly pushrods, then machined the heads to a 9:1
compression, 40mm stainless intake valves 35mm stainless exhaust valves, hardened seats (run 98 octane pump fuel) and twin cadrons with stock ignition
except iridium plugs. This produced 70hp at the wheels. With heads like mine you could even run webbers for even better performance. Hope this

Hi jason thanks for your help today really appreciated it. Got it all stripped down. Emptied the the oil out and it was 3quaters oil and a 1/4 water
(bugger). I also looked at the con rods and they were covered in surface rust so not sure how bad that is? They felt ok on the crank so will have to
