Jamboree
JamboRay - August 7th, 2011 at 07:18 PM

Hi All,

So who's racing at the Jamboree this year, Aug 27/28? I know you guys have Warwick now but the Jamboree was started by the VW guys and I'd hate to see that heritage disappear.

Neil Penboss has entered but we have no one in All Motor, a class that is made for the VW's. Got to keep those Honda's and Mazda's in line! While I don't own a VeeDub anymore I'm still a big fan. Jamboree could be a good warm up event for Warwick :)

Hope to see you there.

Cheers,

Ray Box

Sorry Ray. I wanted to come up this year but work got in the way, not to mention dollars after the rebuild. With the help of VWMA and now ALL-WAYS RIGGING on bored (tow car and card) Ill definately be there next year.
Looking forward to seeing the online footage.

Dasdubber - August 7th, 2011 at 09:16 PM

G'day Ray, unfortunately not racing but will be entering our customer's custom VW splitty into the show n shine on Sunday. Will certainly be checking out the racing though and hoping to be there next year.
Cheers
Al

Al that car is going to blow a lot of people away in a big way that's for sure!!

Hi Ray, I cant make it up to race this year but would love to make it in the future, I had a brief look at your web site but I'm having trouble determining what class i could race under.

I run rear engine full tube chassis dune buggy with a Mechanically injected 1916cc supercharged motor

"Modified compact" class does not allow for rear wheel drive to have a full tube chassis

"Extreme" class has an allowance for cars at the descretion of the promoter but i seriously doubt that i would ever be capable of running 9.99 or quicker

"Pro Compact" class would require me to add 200+ kg of weight into my car. It is my understanding that most car in this field would be running 7-8 sec passes at 160mph plus (my car is geared to 135mph and i would be hoping one day to run a 10, these calculations are without adding weight.)

It would be great to see more VW's at your events considering the part VW have played in the past.

I know plenty of other racers in sydney and interstate that would probably have the same problems as myself.

Your feed back would be great so i can plan for future events.

Thanks for the feedback. It's a pretty easy fix actually, I'll just amend the Modified Compact rules so that VW's can run a full chassis. That's the good thing about controlling the rules myself :) As it's DYO class there are no issues.
Cheers,
Ray

Good to hear Al. We've make a change to the show-n-shine this year and we have New School Saturday (Pre 1985) and Old School Sunday (Post 1985). The idea is to encourage some of the old school cars to get involved again on a day of their own. So for the splitty, Sunday is the day.
Cheers,
Ray

JamboRay - August 11th, 2011 at 08:56 PM

I want a VeeDub in All Motor people so here's an offer. Anyone with a sub 14sec air cooled VeeDub that wants to race All Motor at the Jamboree this year will get a FREE entry!

Any takers? If so, drop me an email info@jamboree.com.au

Cheers,

Ray

LOWBUG - August 11th, 2011 at 09:16 PM

Maybe next year, my car won't be ready in time. Maybe if we talk it up now we'll get some interest for next year. It would be nice to have an all VW event in Sydney.

Surley theres some QLD racers that would go, we are a funny bunch though.

westi - August 11th, 2011 at 10:39 PM

if my car is ready your on.
i will keep you posted.

oldskl60 - August 12th, 2011 at 08:26 PM

Thanks for the generous offer Ray! It is nice to see support for the VW in all-motor...

I was planning to run at the Jambo but have been held up waiting for new valves, retainers springs etc from the USA via USPS (nearly 1 month on the water!!!), very disappointing, sorry.

Hopefully someone will fly the flag for us!
Cheers
Tom

Hey Ray, hope all's well your end. Great to see you on the Volksie forum, and what an offer. Put 'crazy' cole trickle down he is fitting his motor tomorrow, but please continue the trend of putting down his occupation as bum! He will call you when he's back in the big smoke no reception up here in the hills (as you know :) ). thanks Ray, Matt.

Westi....if you do come up to compete, let Col know, he's super crazy you know, he reckons he has a tow car for you that will out pimp the pimps.......bring your dinner suit and tell Stock to shower and brush his teeth, for the black limo tow car with (hopefully) back-up chicks to boot.

westi - August 19th, 2011 at 06:58 PM

Posponed untill oct long weekend!!!!!!!!!

Sides - August 25th, 2011 at 05:18 PM

Bummer... that's the same weekend as Warwick isn't it ???

(oh and there ain't any October long weekend here in Qld)

matberry - August 25th, 2011 at 09:07 PM

Yep, been cancelled due to weather is what we heard today. :td:

Postponed until 1-2 Oct :td: :td: Same weekend as Warwick !!!!

Stanley - August 26th, 2011 at 06:37 AM

It's ironic that event that started as a volksy event is now going to clash with a volksy event.

In the end it's a good call on the weather. I remember one year with Dangerous there was some qualifying Saturday morning then the weather set in for the rest of the day but Sunday was a beautiful day but racing was cancelled because the track wouldn't dry out.....frustrating
