about the closest car that comes to this power
with VW heads (not CB 044s)
is Rod richardsons 48IDA car.

Wow. Sorry Rodge, sounds a bit much for me. Maybe the BRM's are og? Anyone tell, there is a nice closeup.
dangerous - October 20th, 2011 at 10:39 AM
Sounds like a lot till you add it up.
Rather have this than a new ford.
Burrelli - October 20th, 2011 at 12:05 PM
I think the wheels would be repro Matt. They look a bit too shiny to me and it would be the first thing mentioned in the desciption if they were OG
BRM's.
$40 000 does seem like alot but Its built by some of the best around and hopefully well sorted car that someone with the money can just buy and enjoy
straight away and just do maintenance. As Dave said you could not build it for that much.
I've seen a lot of people build cars with that sort of money spent on them but they are not as good as that car with not as good resale value and
spent alot of time doing it. On the other hand (As I'm sure Matt was thinking) I bet you could pick up a very good car in the US for half that price
as well.
I don't have that sort of money so like most of us I have to piece together a car the best way I know how.
matberry - October 20th, 2011 at 07:20 PM
Yep, Burrelli is onto it. I've been involved with two import cars recently that have been absolutely outrageous and at a quality of build that is
rarely seen. I've also built some of this country's best in their day, so feel relatively qualified to judge a good car. I am also involved in a car
that has a pedigree equal to this car that is currently going through the importation process and it had been purchased very recently for a lot less
than what we are talking here, hence my comment, IMO it is a bit exxy. Bloody nice car though, and certainly well below replacement cost in either
country.
