Hi All,
The Sydney section of the VWMA website is now live. There are only a few items to add, such as the Vintage VeeDub Supplies cash incentive for an 8
second pass, details of the RC drag racing competition, and catering details. Registrations will open soon.
For competitors please note the ANDRA requirements based on perceived ETs under the racing section. These will be enforced on the day.
Also, unlike regional tracks, Sydney has specific opening and closing times for the gate. VWMA staff do not have a key, so please pay attention to the
times listed in the programme section.
Cheers
Craig

What are the requirements for the event?
Helmet and Race suit? I'm interested in going for a run but don't know what I need to do.
Yes, complete novice here.
The VWMA website will eventually include all the info needed within the next two weeks, but as a starter, the minimum safety requirements for driver
are approved helmet, long sleeve shirt and pants, and enclosed shoes. The website will have a list of the helmet standards necessary.
Vehicles - if it is currently registered with a minimum 3 point safety belt and would easily pass a roadworthy then you should have no worries in
scrutineering. If your vehicle is unregistered, is not an ANDRA tech car and will be quicker than 12 seconds, then for Sydney you will have to check
the ANDRA rule book under Super Sedan or Super Street, again these details will be available on the website.
As a teaser, on the Friday night there will be a VWMA/Dino's Pizza night in Penrith, RC Drag Racing during the afternoon on the Saturday in the pits
and a twilight cruise for all VWs up and down the return road during the break between racing and the finals. Of course, there will also be a
show'n'shine, live music, catering and stuff for the little people.
More info soon - just give me a little time - new venue, big venue and a lot to learn!!
Cheers
Craig

Everyone I speak with is excited about this upcoming event!
It will be here before we know it!
For those people who have only ever run on an 1/8 mile,
please make sure your cars are properly wheel-aligned and safe,
especially those cars that are not road legal.
That means some caster up front and all wheels pointing forward along the same centre line.
It should go without saying that you do not have bump steer, or worn components!!
Most cars will be 20 to 30mph faster at the 1/4 mile marker, so your cars need to be stable at those speeds.
Another thing to consider is that some car's fuel delivery over an 1/8 mile will be fine,
but starve, or show lean over the extra load and distance.
So it may well be worth peoples efforet to either test on a 1/4,
or get on a dyno and make sure there are no hidden fuel delivery problems.
Above all, this drag racing should be fun!
So prepare well, and I look forward to see you all in Sydney!!
good advice DB
will you be going now, Stanley?
Unfortunately not Barry. I fly out to the UK 3 days later. I'm keen but wife not so much......
cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
