Day Of The Drags 2012 - 10-11 March - Sydney Dragway
HotRodMatt - January 20th, 2012 at 07:40 AM

I'm sure that after the VW Sydney Showdown a lot more people will be wanting to run the quarter mile. And run it against the V8s!

We have had several VWs run this event for several years and a good showing last year of 7 dakdaks... let's see if we can get even more this year.

Two day event at the world class Sydney Dragway featuring pre-1975 vehicles. Old-school drag racing... for drag racers and families.

The Day Of The Drags began in 2006 as a low key do-it-yourself event for Hot Rods, Classics, HAMBsters and other period correct vehicles. For six years now, each March the event has grown in size and popularity.

Wes Pudsey & The Sonic Aces will be on hand on Saturday night as well as Kids entertainment all weekend long.

Competitor Entry numbers are limited each day to ensure value for money and more than the usual number of passes.

A two day SWAP MEET along with trade stands

Spectators can attend Saturday racing plus Saturday evening entertainment or just come on down on Sunday to watch some really cool cars racing or on display in the Pit Area or better still purchase a discount weekend pass and get it all.

Saturday follows the well established Day Of The Drags format with entries open to vehicles running the quarter mile in 11 seconds or more and also includes the 3nd annual Sidevalve Shootout. Saturday night entertainment at the track includes live rockabilly music, vintage pin-up competition, twilight car show and children's attractions.

Sunday will feature Nostalgia Nitro funny cars and vehicles with elapsed times 10.99 and faster with four E.T. grouped classes. Everything from Wild Hot Rods, FEDs (Front Engined Dragsters) and Gassers are expected to enter.

Oh yeah... for those interstaters who don't want to travel but want the DOTD experience.

DOTD Vic is on at Heathcote 28 January (first one for Vic and being hosted by Marsh Rodders).

Queenslanders... maybe 2 events a year for you guys. Negotiations are ongoing.
