I felt my world come crashing down around me this morning when I received the phone call letting me know that my dad (my hero) had suffered a heart
attack at 5am this morning .
I went and seen him shortly after surgery , where they put 2 stints into a major artery that had closed . This same artery had been attended to in
1999 . He looked like crap and was totally exhausted . As sick as he felt , all he asked me was how the heads were for my oval .....
At 6-30pm I took my daughter (Brittany) to see him and after explaining to her that he did not look too good at all earlier , we entered his room to
find him sitting up in bed watching TV and he had just finished dinner .
He is feeling much better now after the stints have been installed and is off to ST George hospital in the next few days for open-heart surgery . I
cant get in contact with Rodney as he is in Fiji , so I hope he reads this .....
Sorry to hear about your dad Wayne, but good to hear he's feeling better.betch you had a little smile when he asked about your heads, betcha he said something like I don't know what all the fuss is about, sounds a lot like my dear old dad!
Hope all goes well in hospital for your dad , as he is what the word DAD (POPPY ) is about .
A real nice fella .

Just on 5 weeks to the day that my dad had a Triple bypass I turned up at his place to see him sitting on a milk crate porting troys comp eliminators
for his drag car. I said to him you shouldn't be doing this and his reply was well it less painfully than hearing your mother whining at me lol.
Both Troy and I agreed and let him keep going for a bit longer before he started to rub his chest where they cut him open and at which point I stopped
him and said time for a break.
Make him rest up Wayne!! My old man split his sternum open 2 or 3 times by trying to do too much too soon!! It does take a bit of time to recover
from surgery but it doesn't take long to get back to some form of normality. 7 months on and my old man reckons its the best he has felt in a long
time!!
All the best Wayne. Brennden
Best wishes to your Dad & a speedy recovery.
Hey Wayne sorry to hear about the old man, hope all is well john and barry deeth send their wishes ( Ariel men).
Vinnie
He'll be right in no time, just make sure he has his mind occupied.
Best wishes.
ben
Thanks , ROD.
To Wayne and Rod
Your Dad Allan is a great guy
always good for a chat and many more to come love to hear his bike stories
Good to now that Alan is OK.
That stint will give him new energy, and he will be back on his bike in time, no probs,
as long as he does his physio!
sorry to hear this guys - sounds like he is in great spirits now!
not to preach, but make sure he does his physio as dangerous said and then (you may have had experience with them before), exercise physiologist at
cardiac rehab. Having done a bit of work in cardiac rehab it really does make a huge difference in a number of ways post surgery
all the best !
Hi Rod & Wayne
Get well soon Poppy, looks like he has the right attitude, no cotton wool for him.
Steve
Sounds like he definitely has good spirits though!
All the best and make sure he does rest up before jumping straight back into. Don't want him to do anymore damage that is for sure!
Seb
best wishes and good recovery to allan,
Louise and me went to visit Dad tonight and he is looking well and in good spirits . He will be transfered to St George Hospital on sunday and
operation on monday .
While we were there Joe Tanti strolled in and my son Dean arrived at 7-30pm after driving from Melbourne at 10am , when completing a course
examination at his flight academy this morning , in his 73 1300 beetle .
Thankyou to all for your well wishes and support ....I do keep dad informed of all your support
Hi Wayne and Rod,
Best wishes for your Dad for the operation.
I've chatted with him a few times, and he seems like a REALLY handy bloke to have around.......look after him.
Cheers,
Greg

Very sorry to hear guys, tell him good luck with the op and recovery.
Cheers Dave!
that's sad news sorry to hear, sending some get well wishes
hope all goes well on Monday
I wish you and your whole family the best of luck today with your dad. Modern medicine is amazing and getting better all the time. Just like the other people posted, heart rehab is one of the best things you can do along with spending time with a nutritionalyst . My wife Sue had a heart attack last year , know what you are going through, again best wishes for a fast recovery, Mike and Sue McCarthy
many thanks Mike , Sue and all other members for their well wishes .
Allan is resting comfortably in St George Private Hospital and has been since sunday . The surgeon has advised him that he should be operated on soon
. They have not been able to operate on him earlier as the medication he was on was to thin his blood to allow the heart to work easier and they wont
operate while your blood is too thin due to the risk of bleeding excessively .
He is in good spirits and frustrated due to finding a really good deal in the just bikes magazine on another Ariel motorcycle ....
Sorry to hear Wayne and Rod,hope all goes well on Monday as I'm sure it will.Best wishes Russell (CBB Racing)
Your dad sounds like my wife Sue, I bought her a Goldwing 1500 and put a trike kit on it, she rode it once and then had the heart attack. All through heart rehab her motivation was being able to ride her bike again. She would go out into the shop and sit on it . She is riding now , and grins from ear to ear when she does . Again best wishes on the surgery and recovery. Mike and Sue McCarthy
Well dad was taken to theatre this afternoon at approx. midday , for surgery prep .
At approx. 1pm he underwent open heart surgery where the surgeon performed a quadripple bypass .... veins were taken from his left leg only which will
allow him a stronger right leg to kick the old bikes after he recovers from the operation .
After 3 1/2 hours he came out of surgery and all appears to have gone well .... he has been transfered to ICU and has not yet woken and a machine
assists him to breathe and function temporarily . He will remain there for a few days before being transferred to a private room for rest and recovery
.
All the best for him in his recovery.
My thoughts are with the family.
If good wishes do the job, he'll be back on the bike in no time.
Thanks for the update Wayne, glad the surgery went well. Best wishes to Alan for a speedy recovery.
