After several recent interstate enquiries and some careful consideration , I have decided to respond to the use of ‘Team WPVW’ cars in the
‘RPR’ advertisement in the latest VWMA edition
This ad has been deceptive, misleading & legally questionable . Even the magazines editor was led to believe that permission was given for the use
of Team WPVW cars in Rodneys’ ad
At NO time were any Team WPVW members consulted about the use of our cars in his ad , nor was permission granted . The implication that RPR has
contributed to the success of our cars is a blatant misrepresentation of the role played by a “parts supplier”
I am both frustrated & angry that any person , let alone a “parts supplier” , would mislead people into believing that he has played a major
role in the success of Team WPVW
All Team WPVW cars have been professionally built at WPVW using both local & imported brand parts ( Empi , Scat , Pauter , CB Performance , Bugpak
etc) & although a very small portion of these parts were imported for us by Rodney , none of them bare the brand name ‘RPR racing products’
It has taken many years of R&D for me to achieve the current success enjoyed by Team WPVW at present & I don’t appreciate anybody thinking
that they can use our success to further their own business without my consent
Wayne Penrose , Team WPVW
Thanks for the heads-up Wayne, I heard a few other competitors were in a similar frame of mind.....interesting.

Now we just need to hear from the other 3?
Karma will sort out the deceptive
pretty poor effort
I personly don't think Rodney was trying to take anything away from the good work ( vw work , drag racing , helping people) WPVW has done in the vw
drag racing scene guys or your workmenship on volkswagens .
The add is more a sponsor or parts seller getting clever with a add , as a follow up after the event .
Yes the last sentence could be writen little better but we all know Rodney may be the biggest vw performance parts importer and seller Australia has
.
Pictures of your car can be bought buy anyone from the photographers .
Maybe Rod should of ask if it was alright with the owner , to use there car in add but I can't see where it takes anything away from the person who
owns , built , raced at the event , made the vw shootout class , with there picture used .
If anything it's a big big well done guys .
The funny thing !! Rod R motor came from USA complete and freshened by MR Butler so the carb jets may be the only thing supplied by Rodney .
Cheers .

Pete people pay to have stickers on my car and that gives them the right to use the image/ results in any advertising etc.You could look at a diffrent way I bought food from Aldi at ballina on the way down which kept me fueled up thu the day and allowed me to runner up in the air cooled bracket because with out food I'd be hungry and not on top of my game. Now for Aldi to turn around and use the image of my car with out my say so in a nation wide magazine saying they some how contributed to my win? Well I just don't think that would be right either? Not without some form of "sponsorship"
Regardless of the issues here I was amused by the fact when I clicked on this thread there was a Rod Penrose Racing banner et the top of the page.
A simple way would have been an add congratulating the quick 8 cars and drivers for their acheivement in just qualifing where they did!

Sorry Dave don't have the magazine in front of me but there was more than 6 cars in the quick bracket? Congratulate them all and name them all?At
warrick a couple of years back myself and an unnamed person tried to rightly or wrongly award $500 to the fastest street tyred muffler car in
quallifying as a way to get some excitement around the lower class of racing. Now I don't have a buissness to promote and Craig and Rodney came down
real hard on me alluding to the fact that some how I was trying to proffit from all craigs
hard work?Same situation if you ask me?Except I had nothing to gain only $250 to loose! Rant over.

Now, now lads.......nothing wrong with a bit of sibling rivalry, but we don't want WW 3 to start in Australia, particularly so close to me!
I'm wondering IF anything needs to be settled, could it be done on the track/drag-strip Now wouldn't that be a lot more fun than on a boring old forum
Craigs a good bloke , Id say he will run something in the next mag , to put every one at ease.
strange the person in question hasnt weighted in since hes normally so quick on these things.
I haven't seen the ad in question yet but will be sure to have a look now. Can I also add I respect both you guys as volksy racers and business
owners and only now you both well enough to say g'day at race meets.
Can I ask as to whether you have spoken directly to the other party involved. If not wouldn't the best thing to do be to approach them with your
concern, and let them issue a correction and or apology in the next issue. This is how things like this are normally settled if it was a
misunderstanding.
If you have I can't help but think whether or not this post would be here if it had been another company. I think that the fact you share surnames
has more to do with it.
I'm also assuming this can't be settled over a beer at a family BBQ. Hope all parties can reach an amicable solution.

Dire Straits..
Brothers in arms...............
What stanely said was a good way to approach it.
I don t know either of you well, but i do admire you both and what you've achieved, but this issue, if it continues will only harm the vw community.

I too have a brother in VW circles and occasionally, like most brothers, we lock horns a little from time to time.
However, I find the best fix is a hot cup of cocoa and quick phone call. Solves most things... [rather than a thread]
