Some of you guys will remember how many problems I have had with transmission breakage and all the things I have done to try to overcome it. The last
things I did were to replace the transmission case and gear carrier with AUTOCRAFT units and to install the RLR REV 6 clutch . So far this season
since the changes I have NOT had any more issues or complaints. In the past I would get about three passes or less before I would hear ring gear
noises, now nothing. I will be running my last race of the season this month on the 21st so wish me luck. Here is a video from our lasr race at
Darlington ( mine is the red car ), notice when I go through the water trough that I do NOT do a burnout, just barely spin the tires to clean them off
and just stage the car.

If you have a type 1 tranny I would really consider this setup. Glad to hear you had a great event ( WARWICK )and glad everyone had a good time. Mike
McCarthy
cheers mike and good luck
Thanks Brad, Mike
Thanks for the update Mike, good luck with your last event for 2012.
Holy cr4p.... should have watched the vid BEFORE posting. No traction issues there Mike....awesome stuff.
Man your car launches great mike!! Saw the video of your car from last weekend via the sevwa Facebook page!! Out of the hole like a rocket!!!
very impressive launch Mike .... well done mate !! we cant wait to get Ben Fords bug launching like that with his new RLR rev-6 clutch assembly
Thanks alot guys, really appreciate it. The last few years we have worked really hard to sort it out , last year we tore out 7 ring and pinions along
with the cases . This year not a single breakage. I want to pass on everything I have learned to anyone who wants to know it, people like your Dave
Butler and others are an inspiration to me, I hope I can pass on information of what works for me and prevent someone else from spending all the
money and time that I had to. Mike
here is a better video of that pass,

Crikey Mike..... It really does lift higher as second come on!!
Way to go!!!!!
Thanks Humpty,
The Kawells set me up a great engine combo and that small cam really builds alot of torque at low rpm's. I have been lucky to get alot of help
from some wonderful people. Mike
Well our race season is over , got out driven at the last race and went out first round. I think it was a case of " OLDHEIMERS " ,hahhahaha . Troy Sellers did a great job of driving and deserved the win. My great news is that my tranny is still in one piece ( type 1) and quiet. I will pull it apart this winter and just check it over, but I do not expect any bad suprises. I know some of you have the REV 6 and wanted to know how it is working for you. Mike McCarthy
hi mike i have a rev 6 dual disc in my car i run my car yesterday and it worked great i just done a little skid and car went the best its ever went.
I saw your post and again congrats on the E/T. I really think it will be even better as time goes on. The reason I haven't been doing burnouts is that I am willing to give up a little E/T for a softer clutch , my type 1 box thanks me for it,hahahahaha After first gear the clutch feels like a stock setup but does not slip when shifted, was your experiance with your fast passes the same ? Mike McCarthy
hi mike yeah my clutch does feel like a stock clutch when shifting and no slip at all. what times does your car run?
This last race we had at Farmington I ran a 6.39 with a 1.35 60ft . Mike
I thought I would update this and to also find out how everyone else has done with their REV 6 setups . I am putting the engine and transmission from my race car ( RACE car is gone ) into the " street car " and I decided to do some maintainance to the clutch while I had it out. I let a few potential buyers drive the car and when I drove it afterward I noticed a little chatter on engagement of the clutch. I just carefully disassembed it and boy was I suprised, looks like new ! I can see where the outer disc has been doing all the work but the inner disc looks like it did when I installed it. I am going to glass bead the floaters and discs to just clean them up since I already have it apart but evidently the chatter I felt was just caused by the heat from the previous drivers pass. The best news was that the type 1 transmission looks like new and no cracks in the R/P . How has everyone else been doing with theirs ? Mike McCarthy
