After Warwick 2012 I've decided to take some of the parts off the Kombi for the type 3 drag car, but before I do, I thought I should get a time down
on the quater mile.
Well at least a MPH figure. Should be around 128-134 MPH
I don't really care about the ET.
The first few runs I will take off easy 1st, 2nd, and 3rd then back off and check the tune is ok from the logger. Mainly because I'm running on
E85(76%) not 88% which it was tuned for. I've made some changes to the tune already just to be safe and will see how it goes.
The bus will be run in street trim ie, street tune, radial tyres, and pump fuel. I will open the butterfly in the exhaust and change the spark plugs,
that's it.
I'm preparing my ice (50kg) $17 and spare axles (x3) and cv's (x6) $90, this should get me 4 runs, and be able to drive home.
If this all goes well i'll detune the bus (600hp) and change the clutch to be used as the tow car for the notch.
Thanks for every one who helped, offered help, or spectated at Warwick.
With that kind of MPH your gonna need 2 parachutes to slow down and to get there Id say 3000hp ?
sorry I meant 128-134MPH
Edited first post
Would love to be there but can't, hope all goes well dude for your last run!
Nice Aaron....I might even come out for a run.
Aaron is wednesday night a test and tune sought of thing? Do they charge for spectators?
600hp for a tow car! So. the notch will have the fastest ET both on and off the trailer......
good luck with the run on the 10th.

Thinking of you and hoping all is going well
Wish I could have made it

Awesome!!
Go to the top of the list in ultimate street bays ... by 2 sec!!!
I was on the start line with Aaron and was sitting next to the wall where there was a walkie talkie.
The comments coming from the track officials were quite amusing. Some new what it was capable of.
Considering Aaron was very tentative off the line (60fts 2.1+) 11.3 and the MPH was awesome. A clean run with a good 60ft will see a 10 easily.
I'll let Aaron fill in all the data, but it certainly was a crowd pleaser. Well done mate
And he only sacrificed 2 cv's to the drag gods!!
Nice one mate!! So one more outing to nudge the 10 sec barrier??
Wow. Would have loved to have seen that.
Congratulations Aaron.

Long grapevine!! I herd that same story down here stanly!!!
Hurry up with the videos!!!!
Thanks for the kind words guy's
Thanks to Bec, Stanley, Ben, Dave R, Mick and my parents for helping at the track.
We had a good night at the track, the hardest part was getting out of the hole clean with out breaking those cv's and shafts.
Every launch was around 3500 rpm untill the clutch was out then let the turbo come on lifting the wheels every time.
The first run was run through to third then on the brakes to check the tune. 12.33 @ 91.86
After the run an official said to Stanley that I can run as fast as a 10.00 because it has a full cage and harnesses.
The second run smashed 2 cv's and an axle on the same side, still only around 3500rpm on the line.
We bung another one in.
Third run easy off the line 1, 2, 5th, back in to 3rd then 4th short changing every gear 7100rpm
11.48 @ 133.78mph
7.720 @ 100.6mph
2.125. 60ft
Forth was the same off the line got all gears but think I backed off at the time boards then noticed the yellow markers, doh.
11.37 @ 130.71
7.62 @ 104.62
2.157 60ft
I have run a lot of 1.56 60's and 107.3 mph at half track.
It still has a lot more in it so we are heading back to the 1/4 soon
Third run on the right, forth is on the left
Nice work Aaron, made for a good night out! Let us know when you go out again...
Good shit man!!! Not bad for a tow car
Got some awesome in can footage, I'll try and put it on YouTube soon.
Blows me away looking from a passengers view.
