mike64 - November 18th, 2012 at 08:49 PM

Yep ya gotta watch out for those Henry's they can be quit tricky;) did he win that class Chris? How many runs did Shane get? Well done also :tu:

ALZ061 - November 18th, 2012 at 08:54 PM

Yes congratulations are certainly in order for all the dubbers that participated in the Nostalgia Day. The weather was great, as was the track & the atmosphere.
The cars entered in Wild Bunch, Shane from CBB, Clint & Ben from WPVW ran so well in their one & only qualifier that the big boys in the V8s did not want to play. Hmm perhaps that should read big babies.
The result was that the boys ran against each other & it was on for young & old, Clint with several runs just over the 200kph, Ben cracking into the 9's & Shane finally breaking into the 10,s all putting their cars onto the trailer ready to run another day. Russell had a ball & is gaining confidence with each outing [woops perhaps I shouldn't mention balls particularly of the tennis variety, sorry Russ ] he also is on the trailer ready to go again.
Then there is the old stager Henry , what a cheer he got from all present[ not just the dubbers] when called up for his just reward, 1st place in Street Machine, well done H.
If I have missed anybody please accept my apologies , woops I forgot all the supporters & pit crews thanks for your help as well as all the friendly jibes & banter it certainly made for a top day.

Yep H's took out the class. And we even got a smile out of him.
Shane got I think about 4 runs and finaly worked out that if he gets his foot off the clutch, it makes for better et's lol (he took off his skirt and drove like he should and got the results needed to prove his man hood.

Russell was into really low 12's and did really well gaining more bum in seat time and is starting to pay.

Of cause the mad professor (aka Mike Kristen) was the making sure all of his engines were running sweetly.

Also a quick thanks to Macka for a quick P.A anouncment as my daughter went awol at the end of the day, Kids they'll test ya every time.

Kiwivw56 - November 19th, 2012 at 03:15 AM

Yep had a great day with a 12.4 but still need to keep working on the start ( more bum in seat time need)

Henry you just proved once again you are the legend well done

Shane that last pass was the best man

Thanks Mike K ,Adam,Chris,Alan and rest of the team for making another top day.(nearly forgot the boss Deb)

Hi

Well done Henry all that practice has paid off

How does that country song go? "old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill" not that Henry would do anything treacherous.

An old bloke winning the Nostalgia Drags - go figure!!

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments -

I was trying hard to put my feelings into words as to the meeting and I am in two minds
a) Yeah, it was easy when 2 opponents red light and you get a bye run to the final.
but
b) any time you make it to the winners circle is a good time, especially in front of so many old faces I have known for such a long time
(I had been there quite a few times last century, but this is my first - but not last, Senior Citizen win)

The truly first class group of friends around me make it so much easier and rewarding and yes I did crack a smile and the sh*ts for the 2 reasons above

The car did it's job well and the lack of changes made prior and during the meeting paid dividends

As usual, for the numbers gurus, some of the time card numbers for the day were
Corrected Altitude hovered between 1500 feet and 2800 feet all day
Best Reaction - .057
Worst Reaction - -.003 (red)
Best 60' - 1.562
Best 1/8th mile - 7.408
Best E/T - 11.825 - Sorry Ben!)
Thanks again to all (see you at Track Champs Final #7 in December
One more meeting this year (Track Champs #7) and I'll need a nano nap
