I am getting it recovered to match my PIMP new seat, (pics of the seats will be up soon, and once again thanks sam for the awesome seats)

Good luck!
I was actually thinking about getting it covered with material, like upholstery stuff, instead of staying with the black rubber. I'll keep you updated.
like that?
yeah thats the one
keep us posted dude, I need to sort my dash out sooner or later and always love seeing what other people do
No worries mate, I'm off on 3 weeks holiday this week so I should be able to get some quality time with my VW. I'll be posting pics soon.
on the subject of type 3 dashs.
I'm thinking about removing mine altogether and filling all the holes and then making aluminium bezels to sit behind the guages.
Topping it of with a slim dash mat.
WOW that sounds bloody awesome, post any pics if you have seen any, I would love to see that

Looks good with shaving and filling.
Looks cheap if you don't weld up the openings though.
Matts right...they look pretty ordinary unless they're shaved and filled.
they have some pretty ugly holes where the speaker hoes and some slots cut behind rhe grab handle that are contoured just to make it more fun.
you wouldn't have any pictures of a bare dash like that would you?
I've got one in the drive way. I'll take a pic when i remember to.
Did anything come of this. I would like to see how things went as my dash has some pretty large cracks running through it
Just seen photos of bare metal t3 dash on t3 forum. Looks sweet if done well !
I took my dash top off a while back with intentions of getting it repaired. As a temporary solution I stuck a strip of fury fabric over the metal
dash... i kind of prefer it now to the original plastic!
