motorised glove box lid
silverbullet - February 26th, 2006 at 09:03 PM

I am looking to remove the original latch of my glove box and make the lid so that it motorised with the use of a switch to operate. I shall be putting my head unit in to the glove box and i have already smoothed out the dash. I have thought about adapting a electric aerial motor or servo or trying to hook up a motor some how. Has any one done this or have any good ideas on how this is achievable. Cheers Ian

Give the motor from a CD drive a shot, all it needs is a power input and you've got yourself quite a strong little motor that will stop opening and close under any pressure and is already hooked up to a button and distance limiter.

It might not be heavy enough duty for what you're after, but a friend used one to make an ejectable ipod dock in his dashboard, was very snazzy.
