Hi People,
I have recently purchased a 73 type 3 Squareback and one of the few minor problems with it is the saggy dying drivers side seat.
Whilst attempting to source a replacement seat i have run into a problem. The 73 seems to have a newer and unusual seat arrangement where the seat
slides on two rear mounts and a single central front sliding mount.
- Firstly can anyone tell me how i get the seat out so i can see if this is fixable?
- Secondly does anyone in Perth have any suggestions where i might find a spare?
- Thirdly if a seat conversion is the way to go is anyone familliar with any detailed type 3 (prefferable 73-74) seat conversions which i could copy
?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
.Sean
- I have attached a dodgey camera picture of the wagon incase anyone is interested

theres a spring clip on the front center track this has to be pushed down while you slide the seat forward .
I have a seat in Sydney
The seat with the clip in middle is the earlier model.I think yours has a spring loaded pull under the seat.I sold Mid life a set a while ago he is the man to ask about removing. The seats were only in the last models.Either have seat rebuilt or fit aftermarket ones.
