Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone has tried fitting a subwoofer into a standard interior?
I have 72 superbug and was looking at an 8 inch active compact sub from boss audio fitting under the back seat.
What have other people done in the relatively restricted dub interior?
Pfft, why have an 8inch when you can have two 10inch's instead Doof
Doof
Heres the setup I build with the assistance of Joel. Fits behind the back seat, fold the seat down and there they are.
You can easily fit two 12" subs behind the rear seat.It depends how crazy you want to go.
If you just want a bit of bass just go with on 10" ,this will give you a good punchy bass note and won't take up all the room behind the seat.
I'm not going to "bag" any brands here all I will say is stick to the well known brand names Pioneer,Alpine, kicker, orion, kenwood, etc.
It might cost a bit more but you will not be buying new gear in a few months if you spend the money the first time.
I was hoping to keep the gap behind seats for storage.
I dont necessarily want big bass. Its more to get some kick in my bottom end
you would be amazed what some quality 6x9s in a decent box run off an amp does for bass in a bug
beetles are made for good installs
ive pulled better levels at dBdrags with 2x 10s than guys with 2x 12s have
If you want to keep the space behind the seat get a slimline 10"
i have made a fibreglass enclosure for a polk 8" under the rear seat for a friend and sounded pretty good, however not ideal to fire up into rear seat but he wanted it completely stealth! wish i had pics to show you but if your after one a can make one for you but my bug is a 67 so might need a donor car to mold off! i agree to stick to better brands and you'll be happier but make sure you have a good amplifier to do the job!!
What i have at the moment seems to work pretty well for me. JUST squeezed a 12 in (lip of the seat overhangs it a bit). Wasn't to hard, just a quick
box out of MDF. Has served me well but im thinking of upgrading to a kicker soon It looks a bit nicer now but no photos as of yet.
