Hi,
I'm interested in having my interior repaired as my '69 Beetle seats are looking a bit tired.
I was wondering if anyone had bought the A-1 or TMI seat covers and how they were.
Were they easy to fit?
Are they durable?
Are they comfortable?
Am I better off going to a motor trimmer and having some made from scratch?
All thoughts welcome!
Hey Hey,
TMI seat covers are very good - a huge range of colours and options.
A1 - I don't know anything about their quality and colour options.
Motor Trimmer - only if you are wanting to install something exotic, like leather etc.

Just realised, this thread is pretty old - 19-12-2009 at 11:24 PM.
LOL
So, what type of seat covers did you install?

And me too, i'd like to know the quality in both the TMI and A-1 Door trims
I did a lot of research involving TMI. Word is on the samba they are poor quality. sewfine are the recommended interior for VW. Expensive but more than worth it as mentioned by all who bought them.
Sewfine. I had completely forgotten them.
Will check their site & read threads on the Samba.
Thanks.
What brand is the stuff that aircooled.net sell? Anyone tried their carpet kits? Their options sound good.
Sewfine... hmmmm.
Seem to specialise in the American style - cloth, velour, and stripes.
Out TMI door panels and seat covers are great and we have been using them for over 6 years now (not a daily though).

TMI seat covers are excellent quality. If you want a stock looking interior there's no-one else. They reproduce the majority of the original
Volkswagen vinyls in correct colours and textures and the quality of their vinyls is second to none. The colour chart is based on US production so
there are some colours we didn't get here and we have some they didn't have.
Heat seam patterns are accurate and you can get the original basketweave or squareweave for later 60's and 70's beetles and kombi's and vintage
vinyls correct for split screen buses.
The negatives you hear are usually from people who haven't bought the correct covers for their particular seats, or they've tried to fit nice new
covers to tired old seats.
TMI's catalogue of seat covers is enormous and you have to be really sure you're buying the correct covers for Aussie production. The US had seat
changes almost annually for beetles whereas we stuck with a few designs throughout our beetle production.
Get the right covers for the right seat and they're beautiful.
We've fitted and sold hundreds of TMI covers and can tell you there is no comparison in terms of quality or value for money.
Sewfine do custom stuff which most local trimmers could do.
Cheers
