was sick of looking at the rip in the passangers door card so picked up $23 worth of vinyl and went out the back for a couple of sheets of masonite to
make up 2 new door cards.
a little stitching, some foam and contact came together to make these.
nice i really dig the blue
planning on doin the same sort of thing in the wifes type 3
Nice work!
EXCELLENT WORK

Very nice, but no door pulls though? How do you close the doors? Just pull on the handle?
Thanks for the feedback

Steve
hahah tis steve, tis!
Well done, alot cheaper than the price i got,$150 each door card no pattern on them just beeding around the outside, i was horrified, this is after she charged me $450 for my back seat
ouch!
Damn they look great!
What sort of door clips did you use? I've seen the little plastic xmas trees but not sure how well they would work.
You need to get early holden steel clips. Your local motor trimmer should be able to sell you some or at least tell you where to get some.
have wurth door clips. same as what came out originally on the beetle.
Hi,
Was it difficult to make? How did you do it, any chance of obtaining instructions for the rest of us??
They look pretty good
used a template from the old ones for a size. Cut the sheet of masonite to that size.
acquired the two colours preferred..
worked out a quick and easy design - flipped material upside down, sewed material together.
spray gun of Contact adhesive used for 3mm foam application to back of material.
stitched in a wonky line for aesthetics as per pics
drilled holes on outter edge as on originals and window / door handles.
wrapped material and foam over masonite board. Stapled around the perimeter
placed Wurth clips in appropriate areas - ' X ' the door handle and window winders with a razor blade. ( or hole punch if avail )
fit and voila!
rating of 5/10 for difficulty
Hi
Good work. I used grab handles from the roof of a 1303 as door pull handles, just drilled some holes in the door and used rivnuts to bolt the handle
to.
Steve
Top idea,
One of our customers has mk1 golf doorhandles, they look fantastic. The door open pull lines up perfect. ill try and grab a pic..

Thats a pretty tidy job!
i wonder if you could do something like that just over the top of a standard door card? or would it be too thick?
id remove the original material, but sure, if your board is in good nick, then by all means use it!
These door pulls are on a friend/ customers car.. I think they are a great idea and incorporate the handle too!
