Headliner bow end caps..necessary? alternatives?
67Restocal - August 12th, 2012 at 06:58 PM

I'm in the process of replacing the headliner on my 67 Beetle and am now about to install the main roof part of a multi-piece kit. The bows have some remnants of the end caps on them and they appear to be a simple plastic tube. Should I buy some new end caps or use some alternative (3mm poly-tub looks like it would fit well)? Are the end caps necessary at all?

It will pay to put something on there to stop the bow from rubbing ( possible squeak)

and scratching, so as to not expose any bare metal to atmostphere.

El'cheapo alternative is to cut 10mm pieces of small gauge vacuum hose and slide on the ends of the bows.

Thanks for the input and ideas. I think I'll just give the vacuum hose or the polytube a go.
