You can retrace the way I drove home from the Butcher because of the Huge amount of oil gushing from my Subaru EA81 engine, Big end Oil Seal...
So does anyone out there have an EA81 in half decent condition sitting around. Maybe a Rebuilt one... Am I DREAMING......
But seriously I am looking to maybe throw in another engine while I rebuild this one or get a Rebuilt one and put that in.
What I want to know is, I currently Have the Subaru EA81 in the back of my Manx, Is there any other Subaru engines I should look out for while I am
looking for a replacement.
I need a strait bolt in to my current adaptor plate onto my VW swinging box.
I have heard of EA82 is this the same...?
My engine is a 1800 what is the 2L equivilent...?
What other types of Subi's do i have the option to go with...?
Hmmmmmm
I am an Optimist so I see this as an oppotunity to give my buggy some new POWER...
Now legally I am not to sure about changing Engine numbers, Buggy has QLD Rego but I am currently in NSW. But I will cross thet brige when I get to
it I guess, Advise on that would be a great help..
Thanks, Let me know what all the other Puddle Power Boys have done..?

Talk to Buggy Brad. He'll know!
ea81 is the 1800 brumby and early wagon motor. basic pushrod motor. can go forever but can corrode internally if good cooland not used (like most
motors).
ea82 is the later 1800 ohc motor. bit more poke and rev from these i spose.
know a dude that picked up a 60000km ea81 complete for his kombi project for $400.
dunno if the later motors mate up but i know they put the 2.2 motors in the brumbys. not sure if its whole drivetrain or just the motor.
I guess an EA82 would be a good Upgrade, Same Engine size so easy to keep it Legal..
But will the EA82 Bolt strait on...?
If it does I am sold with that...
Bump,
Anyone else help me out here...
Ring John Sherman he can tll you if the EA81 and EA 82 are the same block. I have an EA 82 for sale if you want one of those. It i complete and I was told it runs fine but have no idea. $100
Cool, I would be good to find out if the 82 is the same block and it is a bolt on job...
I would be interested in that engine.
Where can I get in contact with John or is this his Company Name..?
Volks Conversions is the company name.
