it starts....
looks like the first problem with my golf has popped up,
the drivers window has stopped working!!
and just as we head into summer too! argh!
all the rest seem to be working just fine, but you press the drivers, it makes a small 'clic' noise, the engine speed drops just a tad, then.....
nothing.
will i be sunk with no fast food or inner city carparks again?
does anyone know how to take the door apart so i can check whats up in there?
thanks a bill'
refer to the tips on screwdriver use in the Paris Hilton thread - that should help
haha, mine did that, just use the aircon
so as my Mk3...the one behind driver does the same thing...
i dont think paris would know how to use a screwdriver, far too complex!
as for my screwdriver abilities, while i can use one i cant find any screws visible in the door! ill look a little harder, but until then, has anyone
taken there door apart, even in curiosity?
the front passenger window has a fun little thing where it starts going up, then for no reason goes down all the way, starts going up and stops half
way. very annoying. very.
seperate grab handle in 2 . 2 phillips head screws located in there . Remove speaker cover . 4 screws located there . remove sniper button . take off
door trim !
When you seperate grab handle the window switch needs to be disconnected . Also you will have to pull very hard on door cover to get it off
step 2 window reg
remove cover over door from top down . make window go down to a point where you can see the 10mm bolts holding glass . Undo them and lift glass up to
its highest position before taping it to the door . Undo 5 bolts that hold the regulator in place . there is also an orange clip roughly in the middle
that needs to pop out . unclip the power supply to the motor . Remove the reg with motor by turning it 90 deg and pulling it out from the bottom .
Cost of a new reg is about $250
I think you will find the little plastic clip that attaches the glass to the slider is broken.
VW make a new Alloy type fitting to replace this buts as Seb said there about $250.00
Thats the mk4 Golf dave . That kit is about $150 . completely different type of window reg . The mk3 you have to buy the complete reg . It is generally the clips that break although sometimes its the actual cable that tangles
thanks! ill get to work on the bastard,
this happened before when i first got the car, but the dealer fixed it and all was good... for a while.
thanks a bundle!
there u go i knew Seb would have the answer
Keep up the good work
well, i took it all to pieces and had a nice good look through it, and...
nothing. no broken bits, no faulty wiring, nothing that would indicate anything has burnt out...
guess its time to get a pro to do it.
damn.
Had a similar problem with a mk3 a few years back - dismantled it and took the regulator assembly to an auto electrician who said it was a fault on the circuit board but couldn't repair it. Ended up replacing the whole regulator assembly. Got the impression that it was a common problem - a flaw in the design/production
i have a merc E class and alls good all is on track reg works but no movement up or down
even the toothed wheel works
is there an inner bush set up on the reg shaft that could be worn?? (but never a sign of fatigue or sluggishnes ...just stopped one day!!!)
well, i ended up crackin open the trim and getting a good look at the winder motor, which was.......... not plugged in proper. the plug has a sliding
clip that clicks into place, and once back in, worked a charm.
i feel like i right idiot.
