wiseoldub - March 2nd, 2006 at 05:44 AM

yep, got them on 2 days ago and she looks the bis!!!!
don't know why the original height is soooo high. when you see her now , she looks like it should. drives a little harder but my shockies are very worn and will be replaced soon with koni's all round! cost me around $400 to get in and on! not bad i reckon! got a wheel alignment the same day , which is a must!!!$40 ish depending on the guy you go to! all in all, very worth it! i have been aircooled for about 13 years never to be told otherwise and i am in love with this thing!!
now i need to see whether a set of extractors is any good and then to track down those smoke indicators!!
hope this helps all!
btw, i now have original springs that can be re set for $100 or so a pair.
cheers josh

vwtyp2 - March 2nd, 2006 at 08:31 AM

I've tried a couple of places here in Adelaide.
One place will make new springs for $195 a pair.
The other place will reset the springs, drive in/drive out $200 rear $250 front, but they can't guarantee how much drop.
Think I'll just get the 75mm springs from cip1 or wagenworks.

crewcabconnection - March 2nd, 2006 at 08:27 PM

wiseoldub - March 3rd, 2006 at 05:48 AM

i am no good with puting pics up but i will see what favours i can pull out!
i also have 15' rims on mine.
pics will tell better!!

vwtyp2 - March 3rd, 2006 at 08:00 PM

wiseoldub - March 4th, 2006 at 10:53 AM

aaahhh, got it , great post..... very helpful!

vwtyp2 - July 7th, 2006 at 08:50 AM

had some 70mm springs for about a month now.
makes the car look a whole lot better.
If anyone else is after some, I can hook them up for about $300.

here's some before and after pics, sorry about the crap quality, I took them with my phone.

kombi kountry - July 7th, 2006 at 12:52 PM

Thanks for the pics. Were the before pics at standard height and did you get custom springs? How much to get fitted?

Wiseoldub, any pics yet? I'm interseted as i want to go the 45mm drop and some 15" rims...same as yours. Also, you said $400 all up. Was this plus any import taxes on the Cip1 springs and labour to get them on, as i was looking on the Cip1 website and it looked like 4 springs were USD175 which works out to be about AUD240.

I think it would be good if we got some pics up of everyone's T3's cause it seems like the guys on the BrickYard are a bit ahead of us.

p.s. vwtype2, i like the colour scheme on your bus

vwtyp2 - July 7th, 2006 at 04:23 PM

before height is standard.
I asked for 65-70mm springs. Front is more like 80mm and rear 75mm.
Can be ordered in any drop you like. there's alrays a little variance though.
cost me $150 to get fitted, so $450 all up.
the springs are wound by a specialist spring manufacturer.
I got my old springs removed, measured, and re installed, then the new springs were wound for the car. took 2 weeks to get done.
now they have the spring measurements, should take 1 week.

kombi kountry - July 7th, 2006 at 07:36 PM

Thanks for the info vwtyp2.

Pod, so what option have you gone? or would go?

pod - July 7th, 2006 at 08:25 PM

havent gone any yet ,but would either go with vwtyp2 s option (keeping $ in australia ) or with roy at Classic vw pacific -the bus stop (supporting an oz business) :)

madmatt - July 10th, 2006 at 07:17 AM

ive got a 60mm avo kit on mine and it works well the shocks are easy to adjust for trackdays, if you go lower you run out of front camber adjustment.Simon(baxter) from the brick-yard has got avo to cange the design a bit so that bump stops can be fitted to front shocks to stop arch to tyre contact when running fat rims & tyres. He has also started doing poly bush kits for lower arms, anti roll bar and steering rack all are fitted to my bus and all come recomended

kombi kountry - July 14th, 2006 at 01:53 PM

the avo kit, is that a custom set-up?, as i had a quick look on their website and couldn't see anything for T3's.

A friend was telling me and as per vwtyp2 tempe tyres in syd will do custom springs bit they can't garantee exact ride height.
