G'day All
Just wondering if anyone could give me a ball park figure on what our transporter might be worth?
We got in new in Oct 1990
It's a 6 seater.
5 speed manual
no air
No real rust, bit of the usual seam stuff.
Km's - no idea the odometer stopped working about 4 years after we got it on 127K km's
Had the front disks done a couple of times and new rear linings earlier this year.
Motor and gear box haven't been touched (touch wood, keep expecting something to go wrong. Heads aren't even leaking (I guess changing the coolant
every year does help ) but has just started to leak some oil, looks
like around the oil pump area)
Love the old girl and would hate to part with it but the better half has said she is over camping and we are looking at getting a van/camper trailer
and I want to get a bigger boat at some stage and the 1000kg towing capacity is just a real bummer (you can't even tow a moderately sized camper
trailer legally with it )
Just tossing ideas around at the moment, but any idea on what we might get for it as is??
Thank in advance
One sold about 4 weeks ago on eBay for around the 5100 mark if i can remember correctly, yeh it was there somewhere no more a 91 model i think with the average K's on it (270000) neat vechicle straight just as you explained yours to be. 6 seater what a bench in the front? So being that yours has done somewhere near that K's wise, probably, i would think around the 41/2 mark. 4 if you really wanted to sell it. Give me a yell if thinking about it. Not promising anything, but might be interested.
G'day Iwish4aSynchro,
Thanks for the reply.
It has a bench seat in the front and no walk through to the rear.
Thanks for your offer but if we decide to sell it's already promised to a guy (been bugging me for the past 3 years to buy it)
Still in 2 minds what to do. Had a look at a few jap D/cabs last weekend and they just have no room in 'em. The tray area compared to the transporter
is laughable.
Now if I could just find a higher rated tow hitch :cussing
At $4,500 its hard to find a good T3 van let alone a twin cab.
I paid around $6,000 for mine, it was a bit rough but honest, needed some dents removed a window replaced and interior tidy up, and I still think I
got it cheap, look what bay twin cabs are going for, and the T3's are a much better ute.

Hey Menangler, What mod was the purchase? Not rubbing it in (ok i am) i gotta tell someone, but i recently bought a 89 mod T3 Caravelle gl with all
the extras and its a manual for under 4K but it gets better its since been insured for 12K. Sweet or what? Yes it need work nice door ding, some tossa
before me, no respect for the equipment, hence the reason it found me i guess.

Yep that is a bargan,
Some one else on the forum also just scooped a clean '89 Caravelle with everything for around $4500, so the bargans are out there.
I just sold a clean '90 model van, not a gem but honest for $5000,
My twin cab is a '91 model, 2nd photo is how it looked when I bought it.

Looks good Dave. You dont often see them with a rear door on the drivers side. Is yours walk through ?
I always liked Jeff unwin's Blue Double Cab, He had a WBX first but I think his last one was a South African type IV.
Ummm...afellow pulled me up and suggested he pay upto $10k for one ...ive got his phone no if anyone has one to sell!!! ..Mines a 90 in burgundy ...love it...towed aheavy trailer with a kombi on it ..sitting on 110km/h on expressway(cool night)...loved it!!
Mine is a walk through...... now, I converted it, simple job of removing about 20 spot welds and pull the panel out, and change the front seats of
cause.
I think all the 90 - 92 twin cabs I have seen in Australia have both rear doors, Jeffs first one did, but not the early South African one.
Damm menangler how many of these things have you got? i know you had the camper for sale on ebay. i suppose you can rub it in as well, dual cab. did you see the synchro on ebay?
the twin cab were only sold in new south wales so a bit on the treasure side murry of flat four has the origional test ute with only 1 rear door
Just had a look at mine and its got a build date of 03/90 and a compliance date of 08/91 so do you call it a '90 or a '91 model (we must have fist
picked it up in Oct 1991 not 1990) ?
Volksaddict, what's your towbar rated too and where did you get it From memory the book says that they will tow up to 1500kg braked, if I can just find a bar that's rated to
that I'll keep it.
