my t3 van has a surge problem.when at operating temp and idling the revs will die and come back [this takes about 5-10 secs] about 3 or 4 times a minute.when driving around town sometimes when you put your foot down to accelarate it will pause for a couple of seconds and then go. i am only guessing that these 2 conditions have the same cause. any suggestions. also any suggestions on a good repair manual. thanks in advance
when was the oxy senser changed in the exhaust
no idea greedy 53. where is it and what does it look like?
i should ask what motor are you using this is for a 2.1 water cooled
it should be fitted in the cat just before the muffler and it looks like a round plug with 2 wires comming out they should be changed every 100000
klm's it controls your fuel computer telling it how to measure the fuel in and can cause all kinds of trouble and there is no way i know of testing
them

yes,its a 2.1 water coolled,89, done 240 k. the sensor is there and is connected.the exhaust pipe adjacent to the cat has a new piece in it. about 150 mm long. it is as if it was put in to replace something ? can you recomend a supplier for a new sensor? any ideas on price?thanks again
it won't be the O2 senser keep looking elswhere
check intake system for air/ vacuum leaks
johny rotten, thanks for the input.this arvo after work i checked the intake system joints that are visibible in the engine bay.they all look like they are properly fitted together, square and not crooked, feel tight, and then i sprayed them lightly one at a time with aerostart.wonderful stuff.there was no change in engine speed .i guess that rules them out but it was good to check them .
looks lioke the ignition timing is way too far advanced..the ecu compensates and retards the system..to chechk timing disconnect water temp senor disconnect a yellow plug with green wire at the fire wall engine should rev up and set the timing mark on the crankcase join....this is only one suggestion with little info to hand hope it helps you can u2u me for some further suggestions cheers steve

Coil will be showing evidence at startup, yeh? Could be the prob though, i was thinking about the description of " when you put your foot down it will pause for a couple of seconds and then go". Sounds more like fuel than electrics. But as thes are the only two things that will make it run like a hairy goat or beetle on steriods depending on the end of the scale. I could almost think TasDub could be heading in the general direction of troubleshooting your T3.
