Damm...
How come the aussie dolar has to suck so badly. I wanted to do the same thing with a syncro or two gonna cost a shit load to go from uk to aus.
Not happy jan.....
where'd he get that T3 selecta pic from?

I think u guys are missing the point there pinching our T3's and removing the bash bars to boot... And then and then putting sucky colour schemes on
them geeze the nerve of some idiots to deface a pefectly good kombi..
Are they classified as illegal aliens or deportee's.
Bloody Amanda Vanstone has some answering to do
hello! so you like my kombi then do you? thanks! she is a real beauty!
Iwish4aSynchro; sorry if you don't like my colour scheme - just wanted to personalize it a little bit - as for getting rid of the bash bars -
they're knackered anyway...got a big split in the ali. you can have them if you like! just pop round and pick them up!
i got the bus selecta pic from - wait for it - bus selecta! (print screen then pasted into a new document in photoshop...)
cheers! shapey.

hey, shapey,
nice choice of bus.
customise it all you like, put your personal finger print all over it.:thumb
Without wanting to open up a can of worms, no doubt that van was advertised for sale here first. If someone here wanted it, they should have bought
it, instead of crying "oh... if only I had the cash... blah blah...":cry
Anyway, I've only seen T1's and T2's on bus selecta. Is there a new one that we don't know about?
Can you post us a link?
Good luck with the van to mate. :beer
Agreed, i'm sure it was advertised for sale for quite some time over here and nobody wanted it.
I often browse the main used car websites and there seems to be a lot of older model T3's in pretty good condition that just sit on there for ages.
I'm sure if there were similar models in similar condition in the UK they'd be snapped up straight away.
As i've said on a few other posts there seems to be so much more interest in T3's in the UK.....though i'm sure with time a T3 scene will emerge
here in Oz, so start snapping them up now and put them in a shed :P

germany is and a lot of UK guys seems to bring the T3's in from there, so maybe that's what he was referring to?
regarding the parts etc and other mods...i haven't had a good look around but seems like a logical reason why they're not as popular (at least for
tuning) here in oz
hey there.
the uk is rhd the same as you guys - part of the reason i went for that particular van. the only differences are the speedo is in kph and the exhaust
system requires a cat. the bloke who imported it had replaced the exhaust with a de-cat one as they're not required over here on vehicles that
age.
i paid just under £4k for the van over here - that included a new MOT + road tax and all import duties paid - not a bad price for a good condition t3
without all the usual rust / welding that's typical on a uk one (due to salt on the roads + grotty weather all the time!) don't know how much it
would have cost in aus though...
the t3 scene certainly does seem to be thriving in the uk at the moment, i think partly due to the fact that bays + splits are costing more &
more...
cheers, shapey.
Good on ya Shapley
I recok th T3 is like the Super bug scene.
A not so popular model that handles a HEAP better and is undervalued compared to the other stuff.
Give em a few goodies and you have a dub that hadles great and looks buisness while having some mod cons and street cred
You import... whatever. On another thread hear they are talking about importing a 23 window split.
Whats the difference. I am sure you are going to look after that bus a lot better than if it was here.
See ya over at the Brickies Arms

oh yeah - here's the link to the kombi bus selecta thing;
http://www.newpollution.com/popo.html
wasn't part of bus selecta as i thought - somebody posted it on brick yard a while ago...
I'm an another invader from the UK , we tend to lower our vans , stick fat wheels on them and implant bigger engines than we need.
Here's mine
Stu
Sweeeeet ride:thumb:thumb
What size rims? We have so many restrictions here in aus on rim and tyre combo. How far is the drop, no bidy kit(flares)?
That is nice; respray? Shapey was telling us that almost all in England are susceptable to rust i dont see the evidence...
Man u guys are coming out of the woodwork
i see you've registered on the yard then! have a look at the 'lets get together' post http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=986&PN=1
loads of tasty vans in there! (including a couple of rusty ones!)
many have had a lot of work done to get them in their current states of shineyness.
Here is a good site if you like T3s
http://www.justkampers.co.uk/interactive/kamperchat/showthread.php?s=&postid=...
plus all sorts of buses for that matter
Nice rides im particularly keen on the hockenheim grey look.
I lost the address, but theres a german T3 site with them using Merc-Cosworth motors...wow, all I want is a factory dash tacho....I wish.
is there an AU T3 focus forum?
Havent found one yet?
OEM tacho there was a bloke selling one on ebay two weeks ago.

I'll put here what I put in the other thread of the same genre.
My 57 bus says made in West Germany, my 73 bus is made in West Germany, my 90 bus is South African.
If I put all 3 in a container tomorrow, exactly which one would you classify as the Australian export??
I think this whole thread got started because someone sold their T3 in aus and then it turned up in UK to be sold again. It's more so that T3's are only just now starting to be exported out of Aus, because of their good condition and the weak australian dollar. VW will always be a german car/ German manufactured car and German quality. I think if they (vw's) were imported into Aus and then First registered to a VW dealership in Aus it is by all means an Australian car. No-one really cares about exports of our vehicles it's just surprising that communication has been twisted to relay thought of, disgust. Clarity begs that if u were to "export" all three VW's then the buyer would still call them an Australian Import. Because this is where most of their active life began. :beer
