Defect door locks - VW Polo - please help !!
nick1234 - December 27th, 2007 at 12:14 PM

G'day people,

a belated merry christmas to you all ! I am writing this thread today because I got locked out of my car ('98Polo) yesterday - for nearly two hours. The lock on the drivers door was behaving funny and the car cannot be unlocked/ locked anymore at this stage. I have to come in through the boot every time now. The lock on the passenger side got damaged a while ago when someone tried to break in there so that is no alternative. The key is basically turning in the lock, however, none of the buttons open up. Any ideas ? I am afraid that this may cost me a bloody fortune to fix and I am a student only with no income. What do you think needs to be done and how much would I have to expect that this is going to cost me? From the sound of it, it may be related to the spiral spring in there somewhere ... if there is one, that is - really no idea. What are your thoughts ? That problem may actually be related to all cars of that generation (Golf, Vento, Passat). Really, any ideas would be most welcome !!

Thank's people and a very happy new year 2008 to you all !

- Nick

Cheers in advance

Yup defiantly your lock eccentric is broken. Mot expensive and easy to fit. See VW, or a local specialist.
