I have just purchased an after market water pump and gasket for my 2.0 liter 97 Golf.The original housing has a narrow countersunk rubber gasket between the housing and the pump, but the gasket supplied is a wide flat paper one which doesn't sit in the countersunk area ,just on the edge of the flange.
The supplier tells me to use the paper one but it doesn't look right to me. Any ideas?
