VR6 CAMS QUESTION!
Alex Holzl - June 30th, 2008 at 07:59 PM
Hey boys and girls
Just got a vr6 and keen to get some cams into it BUT ive heard that you cant go to wild as the stock ecu wont remap itself enough to keen it running
correct. Ive also heard u can trick it to stay on cold start, but would preferr not too do that.
So if anyone has had a first hand experince with cams in a vr6 or knows of someone who has id love to hear about it and or a good water cooled vw
forum
Cheers boys and girls, Alex

As far as I know EIP has gone after a series of big blunders on peoples cars .
As for the cams , Giac does do a specific cam chip , but your still limited to mild cams . The VR6 head does not flow very well , even with portwork
its not the best flowing head . A better option would be a supercharger kit .

I think cams are the last thing on the list, you should start with a decent set of extractors and exhaust system, cold air induction kit (i run the
BMC kit works wonders) those mods there will open the vr6 up alot then look at a chip, the chips available for the vr6 jumps the power up a fair bit (
from memory its a 15kw gain) with those 3 mods you wouldn't even look at cams but with the exhaust and intake setup adding cams would be more beneficial then just throwing in cams on a stock setup.
