subaru conversion advice please?

Gidday all
we pulled the heart out of our 79 kombi last weekend to find it is completely dead . So i am leaning towards the subaru option . any advice on
tracking down adaptor kits motor and instructions for a diy project would be greatly appreciated . or a tip on someone around brisbane to do whole job
{well} at a resonable price .cause as a mechanic i am a bloody good carpenter !

speak to custom veedubs in brissy, they can do the whole job or supply all the parts u need to D.I.Y,

Don't do it, rebuild the stock air cooled engine.
My opinion and shoot me down in flames if you like, but fitting a Subi will stuff the van.

No need to shoot you down ..
A subi will not stuff the van at all, it will make it much more enjoyable to drive and give better reliability and fuel economy. The Ej 22 doens't
need any body mods and if done correctly you can always put the POS aircooled engine back in later and no one will ever know.

Sorry but I prefer stock VW bits & pieces as manufactured. For my own T3 we tosswd the Suby conversion but then opted for the 2.1 rebuild,this has
worked out well & we are happy with the results. Yes the suby may have been a little more powerful but we still like our van..

hi brad did you use the same exhaust system and where did you put her radiator?I'am just starting my subaru engine .but still wondering where to put
radiator could use a good idea with out cuting body .Thanks heckum

Custom Vee Dub did my conversion.
Radiator was underneath in one of there under body cooling kits and I also used one of there Custom EJ into kombi exhaust systems.

I had a look at your conversion, very nice job and good pics too. Did you choose too mount the radiator underneath to keep the clean original lines
out front or was there another consideration?

There was no where to mount it on the front as I took the bullbar off. I wanted it underneath, even if it is harder to bleed the coolant when filling
it up.
