what model beetle?
early or later model with fuel gauge?

You can also get them in KMH although more expensive than MPH speedos..
heaps of them about as every car had one... lol

You can even get late looking ones without the fuel gauge
[from late german standard beetles]

PS: 1303 or L beetle speedos are different..

cheers

bit late for a German Beetle unless from Mexico ??
VDO speedos were used in all VWs around that vintage and earlier
should have the country of manufacture too..
Germany-Brasil-Mexico- ??
Does it have the two lugs either side to bolt to??
the most common beetle ones do [excepting the Super L or 1303 beetles which didn't have the flat metal dash.]

any chance of a PHOTO ?? front and back

cheers

LEE

PS: they can be repaired...

Hmmm, if it's in a kit car it may not be a VW speedo, mine is a VDO but def not a VW, it's an after market VDO speedo, I found it was very inexpensive to have repaired when the odo karked it.

Jacko - April 30th, 2013 at 07:19 AM

Hello Don

You hit the nail on the head

I assumed it was a vw guage but you are probably right

its probably just an aftermarket job . My car is a 1980 eureka.

the quote was $300.00 to fix . Tassie is so dammed expensive.

I dont really want to go that way. too painfull!!
heres a pic too.
thanks all for input. Jacko:cool:

donn - April 30th, 2013 at 10:59 AM

yep, looks like mine, maybe post it here and i'
Ill get the local VDO fellas to look at it, I think mine was $150 or there abouts, the trouble is that the original VW speedo's were a large diameter and if the Eureka is anything like the wench then there won't be room for the larger size VW speedo. I'll make a call to the local fellas and get an idea of fix cost if you want.
