[FS - QLD] NOS 85.5 pistons $50, P&B kit $150, Garret turbo with bits $150
bajachris88 - June 3rd, 2013 at 09:27 PM

G'day,

Just clearing some excess shed stock. The following items are for sale. Will take money or services (IE: bottom end dynamic balancing, machining my stripped heads open to 94mm, fitting steel threaded inserts for my spark plug holes, any new kennedy 1700lb/2100lb pressure plate kits, exhaust and muffler welding/ making for the baja, engine assembly)

1. SOLD!! AS41 magnesium case, 1600 dual relief, line bored by Leons back in the day, ready to be reassembled. (1mm oversized on bearings, and 1mm machined on thrust - Thanks Sides and DB :) )Been in storage in my office. Blotching is from residue of the acid dip clean up. PRICE: SOLD.

2. NOS brazilian 85.5 pistons, with gudgeon pins and retainers. No rings or barrels. PRICE: $80 (now $50)

3. New piston and barrel kit, complete with gudgeon pins, retainers and rings. $180 (reduced!! $170). Classic vee dub is $210 and CIP1 is $255 delivered to my door. save $40 at the least! (NOW $150)

4. $250 (Now $150) MGT22S Genuine Garret (by honeywell) turbocharger + flanges + wastegates. From a bmw x6m 4.4 litre v8 twin turbo (so it would be safe to assume its good for 2 litre or so per turbo. You could put on smaller capacity motors but would boost at a higher rpm when the exhaust air flow picks up. )

x6m's started in 2009, so it wouldn't have many km's at all, in working condition. Has journal bearings but x6m turbo car reviews brag of these turbos given the light weight impellors reduce the lag time significantly, feel free to google. Has water cooling ports available, otherwise leave them disconnected and run a turbo timer to prevent turbo oil coking.

I paid $150 or so for the flanges to be laser cut. However, they need to be lathed/machined to meet the V-band flanges on the turbo housing, and fit inside some generic v-bend clamps for connection.

I have the original waste gate and an after market one that fits the wastegate mount. The original wastegate is normally open with a vacuum pump keeping it closed, thus to keep things simple a 'normal' normally closed wastegate was purchased, where opening is activated via 8psi think it was boost pressure (adjustable with boost constroller). The threaded rod does need to be extended a couple cm's.

This would make a beaut bit of kit with mod-con performance with a little work (lathe and time).
PRICE: $250

Bump. Sides and DB inform that the bearings are 1mm oversize and 1mm machined on thrust for AS41 case. Thanks guys :tu:

Bump.

Make me an offer.
Will consider swaps/part trades. or tools...
buff back and respray my red faded roof in monza red acrylic paint which i can supply... down the pillars to halfway up the door (excludes bonnet, nose, guards, rear cowl etc of baja, the paints not too bad there).

miniman's buggy looks tempting too as a swap :)

Would Warwick coming up entice anyone to pick up the turbo :D!?

or take the lot for $500...

Yes they will suit :). The late type 3's are 1600cc, and thus use the 85.5mm p&b kit, which will also suit type 1 and type 2 1600cc engines as they are the same long block. Pretty nifty hey! I'm free Saturday afternoon if you'd like to inspect.
